NFL Picks Week 4: Top 5 Guaranteed Winners

Brian MaziqueOct 1, 2011

Week 4 of the NFL season is of course end of the first quarter of the season. The Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills would certainly be receiving A's on their progress report.

The Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs would receive grades at the other end of the spectrum, big fat F's. Will the trends be continued or broken for these teams and others?

Chicago Bears

1 of 5

The Bears have been battered and beaten. Believe it or not, the offensive line played better against Green Bay than they did against the New Orleans Saints. Also consider this, the Bears have had the most difficult schedule to start the season.

The Carolina Panthers have a one dimensional offense. As great as "Killer" Cam Newton has looked, the Bears defense will expose a team that can't run the ball.

Minnesota Vikings

2 of 5

The Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs are both 0-3, but the Vikings are a much better football team. The Vikings offense has gone to pot in the second half of every game. The Chiefs attack is so bad, I don't think they could take advantage of the Vikings inability to move the ball through the air.

Vikings grind out a win here in what could be field goal affair.

Philadelphia Eagles

3 of 5

The San Francisco 49ers come to Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles have to win this game. Starting 1-3 is almost a death sentence to their Super Bowl chances. Only one team has reached the big game after starting 1-3, the 2002 New England Patriots.

The Eagles must shore up their run defense and keep Michael Vick upright. They will defeat the Niners at home.

New York Giants

4 of 5

The G-Men have staved off injuries through the young season and surprisingly sit at 2-1 after defeating the Eagles last week.  They face the Arizona Cardinals and their putrid defense.  The Cards are 25th against the pass and 27th against the run.

The Giants should add to the misery.

San Diego Chargers

5 of 5

The Chargers are trying to right the ship. They are an unimpressive 2-1 this year. They had to come from behind to beat Minnesota at home, lost to the New England Patriots and defeated the hapless Chiefs by an uncomfortable margin.

In short, both of their wins are against winless teams. Luckily they face another one in Week 4 as the Miami Dolphins come to town. The Chargers will continue to feast on the bottom feeders and improve to 3-1.
