Beanie Wells Injury: Why Fantasy Owners Shouldn't Worry About Hamstring

Matt FaulconerOct 1, 2011

Beanie Wells is certainly frustrating his fantasy owners right about now.

Wells was ruled out last week prior to the game, when many thought he would be in the starting lineup.

It seems we are experiencing the same thing this week, as Wells was again held out of practice and will be a game-time decision.

This is an easy dilemma to solve for Wells' owners. Grab Alphonso Smith right now just in case.

However, we should see Wells in the lineup on Sunday.

According to Arizona Cardinals beat writer Darren Urban, Wells said he sat out last week to make sure he was good to go for this week.

If that's the case, he should be on the field, and he should be ready to go. The problem for Wells isn't his hamstring, it's his opponent.

The Cardinals face the New York Giants this week, who are currently the 15th ranked defense against the run. However, they have faced some quality running teams to this point, including the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Giants know Kevin Kolb well, and they are going to force Kolb to beat them. They are not going to allow the Cardinals to run the ball and wear down their defensive line.

While you shouldn't be concerned about the hamstring injury, you should be concerned about the opponent, because this week's matchup doesn't bode well for a healthy or an injured Beanie.
