NFL Power Rankings: Seattle Seahawks and 3 Teams in Cellar Who'll Rise This Week

Kyle VassaloOct 1, 2011

A rough start doesn't necessarily bind a team to failure for the entire season. There are teams near the bottom of the Power Rankings who will shine bright this week, despite their losing ways.

A solid outing this week doesn't necessarily point to wins in the future, but it will force them to rise in the rankings. Here are three teams in the cellar who will rise after an impressive Week 4.

Qwest field is miserable for opponents to play in. It's loud, it's hostile and offenses routinely struggle there. The Seahawks are one of the worst teams in the league and the Falcons have the talent to run them off the field, but as the Saints will attest to, strange things happen in Seattle.

As long as Tarvaris Jackson doesn't throw the game away, Seattle can win this game. Atlanta is having trouble figuring out whether they want to be a balanced attack or a run-first offense and it's costing them dearly. The Seahawks are catching the Falcons in the right place at the right time.

St. Louis Rams

The Rams have yet to win a game this season and while it doesn't look like they'll win this week, they can jump a bit in the rankings by holding their own against the Redskins.

The Rams have faced a brutal schedule thus far and it's not going to get any easier for them in the near future. Their record isn't an indication of the talent on the team and even a woeful 0-4 record won't keep them in the bottom of the rankings.

The Panthers have yet another game against a conference juggernaut. Just like their game against the Packers, the Panthers have an opportunity to see their stock rise in a losing effort against the Chicago Bears.

Cam Newton is going to be under fire for the entire game, but if the Panthers can dial up some pressure on Jay Cutler and limit Matt Forte's production, it can give Newton a chance to put on another show in a close shootout loss.
