WWE Hell in a Cell 2011: Why WWE Needs CM Punk to Win over John Cena

Donald WoodOct 1, 2011

John Cena is the best in the business right now, and if the WWE wants to get CM Punk over with the majority of the crowd, they need to give him the WWE Title at Hell in a Cell.

Everyone and their brother has an opinion about John Cena, but let’s face it folks, he is the best the business has right now. And to be the best, you have to beat the best.

Punk won the title from Cena at Money in the Bank with a questionable ending that made the champion look weaker than he really was, and a jackknife from Kevin Nash gave Alberto Del Rio an opportunity to steal the belt.

Now Punk gets the chance to get the belt back he hasn’t received yet, and there is no better place to assert your greatness as a superstar than in the Hell in a Cell structure.

That metal cage has made stars that were mediocre into household names and it took legends and made them into the greatest of all time, and this is Punk’s chance to have one of the most epic matches of his career.

Look at what the Hell in a Cell structure did for the careers of men like Mick Foley and the Undertaker. They were already great stars, but those matches made people love them with all of their heart.

With two quality opponents in this match with John Cena and Alberto Del Rio, if Punk were to pull off a clean win over Cena after knocking both men out, he would look like the strong champion the WWE wants him to be.

While I don’t believe the WWE will give the belt to Punk that way when they can let John Cena look strong as well by having Punk pin Del Rio, I don’t think Punk wins at all.

There is foul play in the air and a Hell in a Cell match that features a no disqualification stipulation is the perfect spot for another run in by the big, slow Kevin Nash.

Rumors have swirled about the return of the nWo to WWE in the form of Nash, R-Truth, the Miz and Johnny Ace and there may be no better time to set up the storyline than a secondary PPV that isn’t all that impressive.

The result of the run in will be CM Punk getting screwed over, but that’s the perfect opportunity for John Cena to play the super hero by clearing them all out and getting the pin over a knocked out Punk.

Whatever happens, it should be a wild night.
