UFC on Versus 6 Fight Card: What Stefan Struve Must Do To Beat Pat Barry
Saturday night features a very interesting heavyweight tilt.
Stefan Struve, who stands at 6'11", takes on Pat Barry, who is only 5'11".
You would immediately think that Struve has an edge, but how can he capitalize on it?
As a notoriously slow starter, he has to come out of the gate ready and rearing to go. He can't afford not to be ready against a vicious striker like Pat Barry.
With all five of his losses coming by first round stoppage due to strikes, this would not be the time to add another one to that list.
If Struve truly wants to stand and try to knock Barry out, then he's going to have to avoid the leg kicks, and keep his distance and jab, jab, jab like there's no tomorrow.
Struve has almost a 10-inch reach advantage, and he has to make good use of that.
Everyone has seen how Jon Jones uses his reach to his advantage, and Struve needs to do the same.
Lots of jabs, kicks and just generally keeping the distance.
However, if Struve feels his best chance to win is on the ground, then he could most likely get Barry down rather easily and just submit him there.
The UFC didn't make this matchup because they expected a ground battle though. They booked this because they expected two kickboxers to put on a show for the fans.
UFC on Versus 6 goes down Saturday night, only on Versus.
