UFC on Versus 6 Fight Card: What Pat Barry Must Do to Beat Stefan Struve
Leg kicks, leg kicks and more leg kicks.
OK, so maybe there's a little bit more to it than that.
Saturday night, the shortest heavyweight in the UFC, Pat Barry, will face off against the tallest heavyweight in the UFC, Stefan Struve.
There is a one-foot height difference between them.
Obviously, part of Barry's game plan must be to throw a lot of leg kicks, as Struve could be chopped down like a Sequoia tree with enough of them.
Aside from just leg kicks, Barry will have to be conscious about his distance, and he cant allow himself to be right in Struve's range, which is easier said than done.
Barry will want to get inside and stay there as long as he can.
One more thing that Barry must do to beat Struve is to turn up the heat, and do it fast.
Struve has lost five times in his career. All five were first-round stoppages due to strikes, and don't forget about the beatings he took in the fights against Christian Morecraft and Denis Stojnić.
Struve is a slow starter.
Barry has to come out fast and aggressive, looking for the knockout right away.
With four first-round stoppages under his belt—and he came incredibly close to another against Cheick Kongo—Barry shouldn't have a problem with that.
UFC on Versus 6 goes down on Saturday night, only on Versus.
