Manchester United vs. Norwich: Man U Doomed If Nobody Fills Wayne Rooney Void

If nobody can step up and fill the void Wayne Rooney has left, Manchester United is subject to disappointing match after disappointing match. The Red Devils need to learn how to excel without being a one-man show, and this is the perfect match to do so.

With Rooney on the field, Manchester United is the scariest team in the English Premier League. Without him, they are forgettable. That is a huge problem, given the stacked nature of the team.

The team doesn't have a shortage of strikers. In fact, they are so overloaded with talented strikers that Dimitar Berbatov was struggling to find time on the field.

That's why it's so bizarre that Manchester United has regressed into a team that can draw against FC Basel. Rooney can't be replaced. He's the best player in the EPL, and has the power to completely take over a game.

Even so, him being out of action shouldn't force the Red Devils to regress to a team who simply can't score. The attack shouldn't be doomed when he is on the field, and the fact that they can't seem to find their groove points to huge problems down the road.

Rooney is on a pace right now that he can't possibly keep up. With nine goals despite missing time, he's bound to slow down at some point. When that time comes, who will step up and fill the void?

Manchester United needs to see production from someone, and they need to see it now. The team is lost without their star striker on the field, and if they can't manage to step up without Rooney against a team like Norwich, what happens when Rooney comes off his hot streak?

There is going to come a time when Manchester United needs someone aside from Rooney to come through later in the season, and now is the time for the Red Devils to discover who that player is going to be.
