Michael Vick Injury: It Won't Keep Philadelphia Eagles from Beating 49ers

Jesse ReedSep 30, 2011

Michael Vick has always been a player that was prone to injury and this season is no different.

Three games in and Vick has already dealt with a concussion and a severely bruised hand. He was uncharacteristically flustered at the end of last week's game against the New York Giants.

After the game he made comments regarding what he considered to be biased treatment by the referees compared to other quarterbacks in the league.

When asked this week about whether or not he would play in this week's game against the San Francisco 49ers, Vick defiantly responded with this statement, "I think there's a 100 percent chance I'll be out there this weekend."

Vick is a man on a mission to prove he can lead an NFL team to a title. He isn't going to let a painful injury get in the way of that mission.

He is focused on football right now and his leadership and guts will inspire his team very much in the same way that Tony Romo overcame injury and led the Cowboys on Monday night against the Redskins.

He'll have his hands full this Sunday against San Francisco's stingy defensive unit that features some of the best stats in the league.

The weakness of the 49ers' defense to this point, however, has been their secondary unit. They gave up a couple of big plays against the Seahawks in Week 1 and they were absolutely shredded by Dallas in Week 2.

A strong performance in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals proves nothing. San Francisco should've shut down a rookie quarterback, and it did.

The 49ers will struggle to contain the speed the Eagles and Michael Vick possess.

Expect at least a couple of plays of over 40 yards from DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Vick will play through the pain and overcome his injury to lead the Eagles to victory on Sunday.
