NFL Picks Week 4: Which Underdogs Don't Have a Prayer?

Chris TrapassoSep 30, 2011

Predicting the underdog to lose seems easy, but you always run the risk of taking serious heat on Monday if you're wrong.

See the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots' game last week.

However, I'll take a firm stance on these two underdogs, who don't have a prayer to pull off an upset in Week 4.

Jacksonville Jaguars

If you've followed any of my predictions on Jacksonville's matchup with the Saints, you'll know that I think Drew Brees is in for a huge game. Therefore, you already know that I don't think the Jags stand a chance.

Blaine Gabbert has a bright future in the NFL, but this is a game in which he experiences those rookie growing pains that we always hear about.

Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will send zone blitzes, corner blitzes and delayed blitzes in Gabbert's direction, which will lead to sacks and costly turnovers.

Brees, who should get Marques Colston back this week, will have a field-day against a Jacksonville secondary that actually has been rather stout thus far.

Just too many weapons.

Denver Broncos

They travel to Green Bay for a game that some believe has the makings of a shootout.

Yes, the Packers defense is not what is was last season, especially with safety Nick Collins out for the year. However, they'll be able to fluster Kyle Orton and interception maven Charles Woodson should have a big day.

Denver's defense has played admirably and has a great pass-rushing duo in Elvis Dumervil and rookie Von Miller.

However, Aaron Rodgers is playing at such a high level. He distributes the ball to all of his receivers and tight ends so quickly that they'll rarely get a chance to rattle the Green Bay gunslinger.

Don't be worried about Ryan Grant's absence.

James Starks is a good, bruising yet shifty runner that will keep Denver's defense honest enough to set up the play-action for later in the game.
