NFL Picks Week 4: Steelers vs. Texans and 3 Over/Unders Vegas Botched

Kyle VassaloJun 7, 2018

Gauging an Over/Under is one of the hardest things to do for handicappers. While spreads that are way off base happen fairly frequently, Vegas completely whiffs on Over/Unders on a weekly basis.

Recognize which Over/Unders look a little funny and it can be one of the easiest ways for you to get ahead on Sundays.

Here are 3 Over/Unders Vegas botched this week.

Saints vs. Jaguars

Over/Under: 45 1/2

New Orleans might hit this over by themselves. They haven't been held to less than 30 points all season long and though the Jaguars have looked solid defensively this season, they have yet to play an offensive juggernaut like New Orleans.

The Jags don't score a lot of points, but even a touchdown should be plenty to secure this over. This Over/Under could easily be off by 20 or more points.

Over/Under: 45

The Texans vs. Saints last week ended up being a high-scoring shootout. This week will bring more of the same. The Texans explosive offense is going to push the Steelers and Pittsburgh won't let this turn into a blowout.

Pittsburgh will answer the call offensively and make sure this game exceeds the over. Both of these teams should easily score 23 points apiece, making the over inevitable.

Over/Under 44 1/2

The Dolphins are downright terrible. In their last two games they've put up an average of 14.5 points. Given the way the Chargers looked against the Chiefs, it's pretty safe to say they aren't exactly going to turn it on offensively either.

Philip Rivers and the Chargers can score a lot of points in a hurry, but this season they've been uncharacteristically held under 25 every week. Even if the Over/Under was 34 1/2 rather than 44 1/2, it would still be tempting to take the under.
