Fantasy Football Week 4 Rankings: Jacoby Ford and 3 WRs Who Will Keep Climbing

Josh MartinJun 7, 2018

For every surprising performance put on by a quarterback in the early going of the 2011 NFL season, there has been at least one equally surprising wide receiver ready, willing and able to oblige.

If pass catching is what you, as a fantasy football owner, are in the market for and you're looking to jump on this wave of wonders sweeping through the league, then be sure to snap up at least one of these three yardage mongers.

Jacoby Ford, Oakland Raiders

Word out of Oakland is that Jacoby Ford will pay against the Patriots on Sunday. Ford has participated in practice for most of the week and, thus, figures to see the field in some capacity.

The "IF" in "if he starts" is a big one, as there's no telling how head coach Hue Jackson will handle Ford's sore hamstring. That being said, IF Ford starts, he will rack up plenty of targets, catches, yards and perhaps even touchdowns against a New England defense with a lousy pass rush and corners who can barely cover their own eyes, much less opposing wide receivers.

David Nelson, Buffalo Bills

Remember, folks, Stevie Johnson isn't the only one benefiting from the "Fitz-Magic." David Nelson is in the midst of a fine season in his own right, with just as many catches (20) as and only 23 fewer yards than Johnson, the Bills' presumed No. 1 receiver.

Cincinnat's defense is currently ranked fifth against the pass, but hasn't exactly been tested by top-notch competition, unless anyone thinks Colt McCoy, Kyle Orton and Alex Smith are actually dangerous in any way.

Granted, few expected Ryan Fitzpatrick to have the sort of breakout year he's currently enjoying, but what's to say he, and Nelson, are about to stop circling the wagons anytime soon?

Eric Decker, Denver Broncos

At some point on Sunday, the Broncos will find themselves so far behind the Packers that Kyle Orton will need to chuck the ball with reckless abandon.

When (not if) that happens, look for Eric Decker to draw most of the attention. Charles Woodson will be too busy hounding Brandon Lloyd. Meanwhile, the rest of Green Bay's defense, sans safety Nick Collins, will be susceptible to short and intermediate throws—the butter to Decker's bread.

And if you're worried that Orton will throw to Lloyd anyway, don't be; Decker garnered a whopping 13 targets last week against the Titans to just seven for Lloyd.
