WWE: 10 Predicitions Heading for Royal Rumble 2012
Today, we are in September. By Saturday, we will enter October. You know what that means don't you? Only four more months until the Royal Rumble.
Yes it's a little early to start predicting things four months from now, but it couldn't hurt to ask the magic-8 ball a few questions and see what kind of answers we get.
Here's a quick look at the current champions in the WWE and the feuds they are in or supposedly in:
WWE Championship: (c) John Cena: Alberto Del Rio and CM Punk
World Heavyweight Championship: (c) Mark Henry: Randy Orton
Intercontinental Championship: (c) Cody Rhodes: Randy Orton?/Ted DiBiase
United States Championship: (c) Dolph Ziggler : Jack Swagger/ Alex Riley/ Zack Ryder/ John Morrison
Tag Team Championship: (c) AirBoom : ?....Swagger & Ziggler?
Diva's Championship: (c) Kelly Kelly : Beth Phoenix
Now here are my predictions for the futures of those championships, along with the conspiracy angle going on right now and who will win the Royal Rumble match.
The Miz Will Once Again Be in the WWE Championship Hunt
1 of 11Right now The Miz is on the couch, complaining about conspiracies, losing $250,000 and getting canned.
And as we all know, whenever somebody is featured on regular programming and suddenly gets fired for one reason or another, it never lasts long. Another reason why I know he will be back is because when Triple H fired him and R-Truth, he failed to to add in "Best of luck in your future endeavors," which goes without saying that the door will always be open for a return.
The Miz just recently lost his WWE championship to John Cena in Over the Limit after only his first chance at regaining his championship. Christian got what, four chances. Miz deserves more of an opportunity to prove he's a worthy champion.
His first run was less than memorable for most, but looking back on it, he put on quality matches each time he was in the ring.
Remember how great the match was at the beginning of the year against John Morrison in a falls count anywhere match for the WWE title? Yes, there were two men who made that match great.
When he became champion and even after he lost the title, Miz was all over the entertainment spectrum. Award shows, talk shows, special appearances, you name it he did it. John Cena does all that stuff and he's won the title 10-times now.
Miz will eventually return to action and get lost in all of the conspiracy garble yet again, but expect for that to come to some kind of conclusion right around TLC in December. By then, Cena should be in Rock mode for WrestleMania and Punk and Del Rio should be running the main event scene surrounding the title picture after that.
Why not add another hand trying to get into the cookie jar while were at it.
Miz will have at least one WWE title match before Royal Rumble.
Randy Orton Will No Longer Be in the World Title Hunt
2 of 11This prediction seems like the most unlikely of all of them but let's see how this breaks down.
Orton has been in the title picture ever since moving to SmackDown. Actually, he won the World title his first official night there. From day one, he's been see as the face of the B show and is written as such.
And why not? He's got a great look, tremendous ability and a fan base that can get behind anything he does. Heel, face or tweener, Orton's got the ability to do great things.
Randy has done some despicable things over his career. From calling co-workers whores to having an ego the size of Mt. St. Helens, he isn't the most popular guy backstage. Especially after busting Cody Rhodes open last Friday and continuing to assault him even after it was painfully obvious the scene took a hard left turn, Randy continued to attack.
Orton, much like Cena, should have some time away from the title scene to focus on what seems like less important roles, but in order to give other talent the opportunity to shine. Also, Orton should be focusing on his legendary opponent for Mania as well, as he'll take on the Phenom the Undertaker.
Taking some time away from the main event scene will not take anything away from Orton's credibility, it will just open a huge void for other people to step up.
Natalya Will Win Diva's Title; Beth Will Not
3 of 11Remember this scene from last year? It was a heartfelt moment at Survivor Series as Natalya had finally won her well deserved Diva's title after a long rivalry with Laycool had finally ended. After the match, LayCool would attack Naty only to be stopped by the return of the glamazon Beth Phoenix.
Now, both are heel divas and looking to make changes to the division. They've dropped their cutsie attires and gained an edgier personality to boot.
Beth is going into her third straight pay per view trying to take the championship away from the picture of everything the Divas of Doom are against, Kelly Kelly.
The almost unanimous choice that Beth would defeat Kelly at SummerSlam. They were wrong. Then they were even more convinced she would win the title at Night of Champions. They were wrong again. Now she's hoping that third times the charm will work for her as most people expect will be the case.
They will be wrong again.
Kelly has defeated Beth cleanly twice in a row now and I don't expect her to lose this time around. Kelly will once again defeat Beth to regain the title.
Next in line for the title, obviously Natalya. Only once Naty gets her shot at the gold, she will not fail. She will defeat Kelly in her first try, causing a strain in the Divas of Doom's relationship.
Whether or not that leads to a group split has yet to be answered as I am still waiting on the carrier pigeons to give me that answer just yet.
Cody Rhodes Will Not Lose the Intercontinental Championship
4 of 11Since winning the Intercontinental Championship, Cody Rhodes has been trying to bring prestige back to a title that was once glorified as the stepping stone towards the world title.
He hasn't done a bad job of it so far.
Not only has he successfully defended his title a few times already, but he's also been placed into a side feud with Randy Orton. Being in a feud with Orton is good enough for a young star, but being a champion while doing it is double the pleasure.
In order for Rhodes to bring prestige and glorification back to the IC, Rhodes needs to hang on to it for a while. By a while, I mean for a few months. Not losing it and winning it back immediately after. He needs to hold onto the belt without losing it and doing so in impressive fashion.
Right now his title might be playing second fiddle to taking out the viper, but eventually he will have to defend it again and I don't expect him to have any hiccups along the way.
Zack Ryder Will Be Holding the United States Championship at Some Point
5 of 11Zack Ryder is going to be a singles champion at some point in time. What better way to do it than make him a champion to kickstart the road to WrestleMania.
Ryder has been getting more and more air time lately as Triple H is listening to what the fans want, and they have been shouting to the heavens for the spiked hair wonder from Long Island for months and months.
Not only that, but he actually got a US title match this past Monday on Raw. Sure, he was screwed out of the title, but that is far from the last thing we've heard regarding Ryder and the red, white and woo woo blue championship.
He'll get his chance, but it probably won't come for a little while as now it seems like Ziggler and his new partner Swagger are about to enter some sort of feud with AirBoom over the tag team titles.
While Ryder's title reign may not be in the immediate future, it is most certainly in his future and it's going to be glorious.
Triple H Will No Longer Be COO by Royal Rumble
6 of 11Since taking the lead of the company in July, with Triple H in charge, life in the WWE has been, as R-Truth so comically put it,"Coo Coo."
Anyone and everyone that walks through the door now is suspected by of being part of the company wide conspiracy.
There is now talk of the mid-carders about filing a massive lawsuit against the company and Triple H himself citing unsafe working conditions. It seems a little unlikely that that lawsuit will amount to anything substantial, but we've seen crazier things happen in the WWE.
Things in the WWE have been crazy as of late.
Random returns by Kevin Nash, Johnny Ace getting consistent air time for lord knows what reason and all the controversy you can ask for out of a professional wrestling company.
All of these things prove that Triple H as COO, while very exciting to think about before he took charge, has gone down the drain faster than water running straight from the faucet. Ratings are in the toilet and it's because there's so much emphasis on Triple H's role in the company that every other storyline gets lost in the shuffle.
Come January, Triple H will either step down as COO of the company or be replaced by somebody.
Somebody like say...
Chris Jericho!!!!
7 of 11Is it just me or does this man look better in a suit than anybody else in the company?
Everytime I watch How I Met Your Mother, Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson, his character just screams Jericho to me.
Jericho has been rumored to possibly come back to the company since the beginning of the year. He's said over and over that he isn't going to return until he's ready, and there's a role for him to play that's meaningful and worth his time to return.
What's more meaning and worthwhile than being the guy to lead the company? I can't think of a better way to get his man back on television than to have him take over for Triple H.
He's got the arrogance and swagger to be the boss but also possesses the mic skills to make his employees feel like idiots if they want to call him out. He won't resort to threatening to beat them up like Hunter does, his words hurt worse than a beating from the Game does.
Jericho can help usher in the new era that many thought Punk was going to do, but in my previous article, Punk can't do it alone and since it seems unlikely that Cena or Orton will join his cause, why not let Jericho do the dirty work?
Aksana Will Succeed in Her Seduction; Take over Smackdown
8 of 11Aksana has been working on trying to Teddy's Long for a while now.
Teddy, being like every other man on the planet, will eventually have no other option but to cave into her feminine ways. Eventually, their relationship will be so strong that Aksana will convince Teddy to let her run the show for a while while he relaxes and she takes care of him for coming down with mono.
Irony right.
She will go out of her way to help the less fortunate superstars on SmackDown like Wade Barrett and Johnny Curtis get their shots at glory that they feel they deserve.
Eventually she will try to seize control of the whole operation and Long will have to give in or else Aksana will stop, well, you know.
Michael Cole and Booker T Will Move Away from the Announcers Table
9 of 11It's been obvious for some time now that Michael Cole is no longer in touch with his journalistic responsibilities to call the match and not worry about himself. Booker T is just awful.
I'm sorry but I'm not seeing the appeal behind Book being on the announce team and I'm assuming the WWE is starting to see that too.
Booker is currently rumored to make an in-ring return against one of the current men on the roster which is just fine with me. I miss the Spinarooni.
Cole on the other hand just needs to stop talking all together. He's gotten too annoying at this point to even try to make him into a credible commentator. Cole should go on to managing a rival stable to counter Vickie Guerrero's. He can recruit guys like Christian, Drew McIntyre and other stars who feel their statuses are not as high as they deserve to be.
Now doesn't that sound a whole lot better than just listening to Book keep talking about who's in His Fab Five every...single...match?
Royal Rumble Match Winner Prediction
10 of 11Now for my prediction on who is going to walk into the 40-man Royal Rumble match and walk away with a guaranteed title match at the show of shows, WrestleMania.
After much deliberation and consideration for each competitor expected to be in the match, I have decided that my pick to win the Royal Rumble match this year is...
The Best Wrestler in the World!
11 of 11Is there anybody else more deserving of winning the match with huge ramifications of this magnitude than CM Punk? Personally, I don't think so.
Punk has done so much for the company over his career and he has yet to win this type of match on the big stage. He's won Money in the Bank twice, for a three-time world heavyweight champion and former WWE champion looking for his second–he has never won this match.
With all the time spent around Punk and his fight for change, a win of this caliber will cement Punk in the main event scene on Raw for years to come, which is exactly where he belongs.
Punk will go on to Mania for fight for the WWE championship, and no it will not be in part of the match between Rock and Cena. Punk could face anybody from Del Rio, Miz, Jericho and anybody in between.
I could make that prediction right now, but I'm only predicting to the Royal Rumble so that's not going to come until later.
Please leave any and all comments for me. I'm always trying to get better in my writing abilities on here so if you have any criticism about my writing style, I'm willing to listen as long as it's constructive.
Thanks for reading.
Big Fudge out!
