NFL Picks Week 4: 3 Risky Games to Avoid at All Costs

Kyle VassaloSep 29, 2011

There are three games this week that you can't feel comfortable betting on. They could easily go one way or the other and it's impossible to feel confident in either side.

There are favorable spreads this week as well, but some games are too close to call. Betting on one of these coin-toss games is a recipe for disaster.

Here are three risky games to avoid at all costs.

Note: Spreads According to Bodog

Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys (Spread: Detroit Plus-1)

The Lions have got off to a hot start and healthy offensive players on the Cowboys are few and far between. A banged up Tony Romo going up against a ferocious Lions defense is going to make people jump all over the Lions' plus-1.0 this week.

Unfortunately, it's not so cut and dry. The Cowboys have proven that they can hold their own and Felix Jones could have another big day on the ground, despite his separated shoulder.

Titans vs. Browns (Spread: Pick 'em)

The Titans are going to be a popular pick this week, but with Kenny Britt out and Chris Johnson being a non-factor, don't write off the Browns. They knocked off the Dolphins last week without Peyton Hillis and, despite all odds, are 2-1.

That being said, the Titans are 2-1 as well. There is a chance that Matt Hasselbeck can still pick apart the opposition or that Johnson will finally have the big day that everyone has been waiting for. Either scenario is plausible.

New York Jets vs. Baltimore Ravens (Spread: New York Plus-4)

This line is going to draw action from both sides. The Jets are getting points and, while they are on the road and coming off a tough loss, they are still one of the top teams in the league.

The Ravens have also looked good, but questions still remain from their Week 2 loss to the Titans.

Then again, the Ravens have looked like a Super Bowl-caliber team in two out of three weeks this season. As long as Ray Rice gets it going and the defense keeps Shonn Greene in check, the Ravens should score a home victory fairly easily.
