Fantasy Football Week 4: Chicago Bears and 3 Teams Whose Players Will Doom You

Joseph HealySep 29, 2011

More often than not, roster decisions for your fantasy football team aren't easy. Generally, you are dealing with two or three players that are all of a similar skill level that have put up similar numbers so far in the season.

Sometimes, though, the players that you should avoid on your fantasy team are obvious. This week, it's an easy decision to make to avoid the players on the following three teams.

Chicago Bears

The Bears are a team that on paper look like they would give you a litany of good fantasy options each week. They are led by a strong-armed quarterback in Jay Cutler, and they have an offensive coordinator in Mike Martz that is thought to be among the best at what he does.

It hasn't worked out that way, though. Jay Cutler has been constantly frustrated by a lack of protection from the offensive line, and the Bears haven't done enough to get the ball in the hands of Matt Forte, their explosive running back.

This week, they take on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers aren't a particularly good defense, but the Bears have struggled against everyone to some degree so far. It won't help that the Panthers will put up their fair share of points. Getting in a shootout with Carolina will only lead to more passing and in turn, more mistakes for Cutler.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have become a sneaky-good offense fantasy-wise so far this season. Kevin Kolb looks competent and comfortable as the starting quarterback there and Larry Fitzgerald has been helped by Kolb's presence.

The Giants, their Week 4 opponent, pose a real problem for that offense. For all the criticism the Giants have had heaped upon them, they still boast a very good pass rush. Just ask the Rams and Sam Bradford. Not only did the Giants beat them, but sent the Rams home a beaten-up football team.

The only thing the Cardinals have working for them is the travel that the Giants will have to deal with. It seems like it would be no big deal, but there is really something about having to travel all the way across the country and playing in a different time slot than you're used to.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have been a mess so far this season, but they have still been a solid offense fantasy-wise so far. Chad Henne, for all of his faults, was still throwing for a ton of yards. Brandon Marshall was giving you elite receiving production, and Daniel Thomas had emerged as a good sleeper running back.

It's going to be different this week. In Week 4, the Dolphins take on the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers don't have a ton of huge names on their roster, but they get the job done on the defensive side of the ball. Their pass defense in particular is among the best in the league.

The morale of the team and the fan base has to be getting to the Dolphins. I don't think they are that bad a team, but the fans are up in arms, and rumors of the Dolphins possibly trading for Carson Palmer are all over the place. It won't be long before the Dolphins seize to even be a good offense from a fantasy standpoint.
