Wrestling: 8 Matches I Want to See NOW!

David LevinJun 7, 2018

Back in the 1980s, Ric Flair made a habit of taking his opponents to 60 minutes in a "broadway" where no one was victorious.

Along the way, the NWA world champion had on opportunity from time to time to wrestle other world champions from other wrestling organizations.

Fans loved the chance to see Flair at his best taking on the likes of Rick Martel or Bob Backlund.

Since there aren't the major divisions amongst promotions these days and three promotions that the IWC pay attention to, the chances of this happening are slim, but there has been talk of ROH invading the WWE.

Still, although the chance of seeing some of the best matches in wrestling is exciting, the chances of this are slim right now.

But we can dream, can't we?

Seriously, with everything that is happening in the WWE and TNA, there is room for hope that matches might take place within the organizations and across promotional lines.

Here are the ones I want to see NOW!

Austin Aries vs. AJ Styles

1 of 8

This could be a feud for the ages.

Styles doesn't need to prove anything to anyone in this business. He is TNA Wrestling.

Aries is the future of the company and has the ability to be the next Styles.

They both are high-flyers and are both good technical wrestlers.

A match would be one hell of a show!

Samoa Joe vs. Sheamus

2 of 8

Two beasts who would tear each other up for match after match.

Sheamus is gaining popularity as a face and Joe, well, you know what you get with him.

This could be as good as Sheamus and Mark Henry or Sheamus and Kane.

Sting vs. Triple H

3 of 8

Both can still bring it. Both can still draw and both can still be a world champion.

Funny how when I first thought of this one, I did not think many people would like it, but to me it makes sense.

We all know that for the most part, Sting has been injury free for most of his career and hasn't taken the bumps and falls as other wrestlers. His age does not compare to his conditioning or his body now.

Triple H proved he can still headline after winning last month against CM Punk and with his epic performance last year against the Undertaker.

Both would sell out any WWE arena.

Gunner vs. CM Punk

4 of 8

This just seems like it would be a war.

Gunner comes to the he ring and tries to brutalize people with sheer power and raw aggression. Then you have Punk, who is skilled in wrestling and also posses some aerial moves and a solid ground attack.

Plus, it looks like the two would either love to work with each other or just plain hate each other.

AJ Styles vs. John Morrison

5 of 8

Two incredibly agile wrestlers. Two popular wrestlers.

I love when Face vs. Face becomes something great.

And this one could.

Both have the ability, as we know with Styles, to be world champion. Morrison has been caught in a mid-card scramble and needs to get his stroke back.

This one could be better than Daniels vs. Styles.

Beer Money vs. Awesome Truth

6 of 8

James Storm and Bobby Roode are just made to wrestle with each other as a team. The Awesome Truth could be the next Midnight Express.

Both teams consist of four tremendous athletes. And it shows every week that they give everything in the ring.

This could be as good as the Horsemen vs. any tag team from the 1980s in the NWA.

Cody Rhodes vs. Brian Kendrick

7 of 8

This one may have already happened, but I sure would like to see it again.

Kendrick is that strange kid in class you thought was cool but you were afraid to befriend.

Rhodes was the guy who was the evil science experiment.

When both collide, there is an explosion.

Kendrick was a tremendous tag team wrestler in WWE, but he has proven to be a great X-Division star in TNA.

Randy Orton vs. James Storm

8 of 8

After seeing Storm in his match with Kurt Angle, you know that he has a title coming to him in the near future.

If you can say this, Orton has gotten better in the ring and is not as stiff as he used to be.

This could be the start of a great feud.
