Fantasy Football Week 4 Rankings: Some Sneaky Starts

Spencer HilliardSep 29, 2011

There's nothing more gratifying than sticking that one unknown guy in your lineup who goes off.

Before the game the other team owners in your league will be telling each other how stupid you are for starting this guy or that guy, but then you end up looking like a freaking genius.

There's no greater feeling than that!

I've got a few fantasy football Week 4 sleepers who are set up to have strong showings. You probably aren't starting these guys in front of your studs like Roddy White, but if you're in between a rock and a hard place you could do a lot worse than these guys.

James Starks, RB, Packers

1 of 4

James Starks is coming off an embarrassing outing last week. He carried the ball 11 times for a measly five yards. To make matters worse, he lost a fumble.

This is one of those "starting Starks is so foolish, did you see how awful he was last week?" starts.

Ryan Grant amassed more carries than Starks for the first time this season, and quite frankly he looked better against the Bears. However, Grant is now dealing with an injury and might be held out of the game. If he does suit up, he will be heavily limited.

Starks will be going against the Denver Broncos this week, which will be a relief after facing the Bears. I'm looking for the Packers to have a comfortable lead throughout this one, and Starks will be carrying the load.

Expect around 120 all-purpose yards and a touchdown from Starks this week.

Titus Young, WR, Lions

2 of 4

This guy can play. He's been making some outstanding catches, and many have been in clutch situations.

During the past two games, he has caught the ball nine times for 140 yards. He has done this as the No. 3 receiver on the Lions' depth chart.

My thinking is that the Lions have to justify drafting this wide receiver so high, so this is the week in which they will be featuring him more in the offense. Their current No. 2, Nate Burleson, is only getting slower while Young is getting faster.

Matthew Stafford is looking great throwing the football right now, and we can expect a shootout when the Lions go against the Cowboys in Week 4. The Cowboys are pretty thin in the secondary right now, and Calvin Johnson will be getting a lot of attention.

Bold prediction: Young will have 110 yards and a touchdown in Week 4.

Sidney Rice, WR, Seahawks

3 of 4

Today when we think about Sidney Rice from a fantasy perspective, all we can think about is that he plays for the unattractive Seattle Seahawks.

What we sometimes forget is how talented of a wide receiver he really is. Rice is finally looking like he's back to full health after dealing with a shoulder injury, and Tarvaris Jackson really has no other choice but to throw the ball his way.

He quietly racked up 109 yards last week against the Cardinals, and this week he will be facing the the Atlanta Falcons' secondary, which is mediocre at best.

From a fantasy standpoint, the one good thing about him playing for the Seahawks as a wideout is that they will be playing from behind a lot. This is what we can expect this week against the Falcons.

Expect another 100-yard game, but this week I think he'll get in the end zone.

Jason Campbell, QB, Raiders

4 of 4

From a fantasy perspective, it's hard not to take a long look at a quarterback who is going against the New England Patriots.

In Week 4, Jason Campbell will no doubt be a high risk, high reward-type player, but the potential is definitely there.

They should be playing from behind for most of the game, and Campbell should be getting his biggest receiving threat, Jacoby Ford, back from injury this week.

With Ford out, Denarius Moore has shown he can also be a home-run threat.

Campbell also has one of the best pass catching running backs in Darren McFadden.

On another note, he is also a candidate to get you a touchdown with his feet, which is very valuable for a fantasy quarterback given that in most fantasy leagues a rushing touchdown yields more points than a passing touchdown.

If you're in a bind at quarterback, Jason Campbell is a nice fill-in this week. He's a safe bet for 300 yards and a couple touchdowns.
