NFL Predictions Week 4: Drew Brees and 3 QBs Who Will Continue MVP Push

Michael DixonSep 29, 2011

Obviously, it's way too early to start voting on the MVP. But it's never too early to start speculating on who the choice might be.

Since Marshall Faulk won in 2000, only Shaun Alexander (2005) and LaDainian Tomlinson (2006) have won from a position other than quarterback.

Given the extremely high amount of passing yards that we've seen this year, it seems likely that we're headed down that road again.

Two of these names are ones that you would have expected at the beginning of the year. One is certainly not.

This isn't necessarily saying that one of these guys will be the MVP at the end of the year, but they're off to incredible starts.

Tom Brady

The Patriots have a lot of talent, but where in the world would they be without Tom Brady?

Please don't focus too much on the interceptions in Week 3 against Buffalo. When you throw as many passes as he does, a few will get picked.

Also, Brady has five picks this year. I'll set the over/under as seven for his interception total for the entire season.

Would anyone really want to go over?

This is another good matchup for Brady and the Patriots offense. The Raiders allow a lot of yards. The Patriots certainly rack up a lot of yards. They also score a lot of points.

Don't expect his record pace to drop this week.

Brees has actually never won an MVP, but he's always a candidate.

The Saints area team driven by offense and an opportunistic defense. Without much of a running attack, their offense goes as far as Brees takes them.

Brees has taken them pretty far.

The New Orleans quarterback completes nearly all of his passes. Given the amount of passes that he throws, his interception totals are quite respectable.

Without Brees, the Saints are the Aints. With him, they are perennial contenders.

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Here's the surprise name of the group.

People know about the Bills and their hot start. What we don't hear a lot about is many of many of their players, other than Fitzpatrick.

He led a come-from-behind victory over the Patriots, a team Buffalo hadn't beaten since early 2003.

Now, he's looking into the eyes of his former team, the Bengals. This is a game that significantly benefits the Bills and Fitzpatrick.

I don't know what will happen for the rest of the year. But if the Bills make the playoffs, Fitzpatrick will be a viable MVP candidate after 16 games.
