Utah State vs. BYU: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More
The Utah State Aggies travel to Provo to take on their in-state rivals, the BYU Cougars, on Friday night.
Both teams have already dropped two games in 2011. Utah State sits at 1-2, while BYU is 2-2.
In addition to getting their own seasons headed in the right direction, both teams will be looking to claim the Beehive Boot.
Where: Lavell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.
When: Friday, September 30 at 8 p.m. EST.
Watch: ESPN. Streamed on ESPN3.
Listen: KNVU 610 in Logan. KSL 102.7 FM and 1160 AM in Provo.
Spread
Betonline.com has BYU as a 7.5-point favorite. My best advice would be to stay away from this one. Both teams have really given us a mixed bag this year. It's hard to predict what will happen here.
If I had to predict, I would say to take BYU to win and cover. But tread very carefully with this one.
Over/Under
The over/under of 50.5 is a little more predictable. These teams have been pretty offensively potent. It's not hard to see both teams getting to the mid-20s here.
Even though last year's game fell short of 50 points, I would go with the over here.
Key Injuries
Utah State TE Kellen Bartlett (leg) is out for the year.
BYU LB Jordan Pendleton (ankle), LB Conell Hess (elbow) and DB Jray Galea'i (knee) are questionable.
BYU OL Houston Reynolds (foot) is doubtful.
BYU OL Ryker Mathews (foot), Thomas Bryson (academics), TE Devin Mahina (neck), FB Iona Pritchard (leg/ankle) and DE Matt Putman (academics) are out for the year.
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications
Since each team has lost two games already, this game means very little for the Top 25. They will need to go on long winning streaks to even be considered for the Top 25.
Keys to Utah State Win
With only one receiver over 100 yards receiving this year, the Aggies will clearly need RB Robert Turbin to have a good game.
They will need to show off the big plays that they did against Auburn. Utah State will need to score a lot. A low scoring game doesn't benefit them.
Keys to BYU Win
The Cougars are the opposite of the Aggies. Their running attack is solid, but their offense relies on Jake Heaps' passing.
If they get off to a good early start and get the crowd in the game, it's hard to see Utah State mounting much of a comeback.
Prediction
I like a relatively high scoring game, but BYU has more overall weapons. An upset wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, but I will go with the Cougars to win and cover.
