Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 4: Why You Must Add Jason Campbell

Chris TrapassoSep 28, 2011

Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden has been receiving all the headlines and deservedly so, but it's time you look at quarterback Jason Campbell as a possible addition to your fantasy roster.

Without question the Raiders are going to establish the run, run and then run some more. They will look to really impose their ultra-physical nature on opponents with McFadden and Bush, so it's easy to forget about Oakland's signal caller.

So far this season, Campbell hasn't thrown for a great deal of yardage, but has three touchdowns with a 93.8 quarterback rating.

I know what you're thinking—what does quarterback rating have to do with fantasy football?

Well, it tells me that Campbell is managing the game extremely well and is doing so without his full compliment of wide receivers.

Heck, he's been without Darrius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford, Louis Murphy and free-agent acquisition Kevin Boss for a the majority of the season so far and hasn't been disappointing.

When these guys return, which could happen as early as this week against the Patriots, they'll form quite the speedy unit with emerging rookie Denarius Moore, who's been a fantasy stud the last two weeks.

Team's will have problems stopping the 1-2 punch of McFadden and Bush this year, but they'll have to commit eight and nine men to the box, thus opening up the passing lanes.

There should be plenty of open space for the Raiders track team, I mean wide receiving corps, to really get the jets going in the future.

They may not be the most talented group of route runners, but they can all fly.

With the starting receivers back and McFadden running the football, the Raiders offense has the potential to be one of the most dangerous units in the AFC.

While he's still available and underrated, grab Jason Campbell, it could pay huge dividends during your starting quarterback's bye week or if you deal with injuries later in the season.
