Fantasy Football Week 4: Josh Freeman and the 3 Unheralded Players to Start

Chris TrapassoSep 28, 2011

Fantasy owners are always looking for that underrated guy they can insert into the lineup that'll lead to victory.

Look no further, these unheralded players should have surprisingly good games in Week 4.

Josh Freeman

CJGJ: Incident Led to HOU Exit

This third-year signal-caller won't consistently light up the stat book, but he won't lose you many games either.

I think the Buccaneers offensive line could have trouble with Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis this week, and expect Raheem Morris to rely on the run early.

Freeman should still give you solid fantasy numbers because the Colts aren't overwhelmingly complex in their coverages and could be exposed by Kellen Winslow, who is due for a big game.

If your top quarterback is facing a tough test this week, it wouldn't be a horrible decision to give Freeman a shot.

Donald Jones

The Buffalo Bills wide receiver had a crucial drop that led to an interception in the first quarter of Buffalo's stunning upset over the Patriots, but in the game's late stages, Ryan Fitzpatrick looked for Jones down the field.

He isn't great at one specific aspect of being a wide receiver, but he is physical and has deceptive lateral agility off the line and speed.

It'll be interesting to see who he draws in coverage this week.

With a big, five-catch, 101-yard effort against the Patriots (covered by Devin McCourty), Jones could see more targets this week and is a very underrated fantasy WR, especially in PPR leagues.

Tim Hightower

You may have already added Hightower—now is the time to start him.

He was ineffective against a bulky Cowboys defensive front on Monday Night in Week 3, but he faces the St. Louis Rams and their 32nd ranked run defense in Week 4.

The Rams are giving up 174.3 yards per game at a 5.4 per-carry average.

Yikes.

With Rex Grossman still in the role as game manager, Hightower is a guy you can get a lot of points out of this week.
