Fantasy Football Week 4 Rankings: The Fantasy Stock Market

Spencer HilliardSep 28, 2011

One of the most important factors of winning your fantasy football league is being able to get rid of duds while they're hot and getting a hold of studs while they're cold.

Team owners aren't usually eager to make trades so early in the season, but I want to give you a couple guys that you need to be buying after three weeks of regular season play.

Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers (Buy)

1 of 3

Slow starts. They're what the San Diego Chargers are made of. Even though they barely outlasted a Kansas City Chiefs team that got crushed in weeks one and two, the Chargers are relieved to just have a winning record after three games.

Philip Rivers is no exception this year when it comes to slow starts. Last week could have been the week that push Rivers owners over the edge. In week three, he went for 266 yards, two interceptions, and zero touchdowns.

Rivers has been a disappointment so far, and he is someone worth trying to trade for while he's in a slump. He is still an elite quarterback, and he will still put up elite quarterback fantasy numbers. Go get him.

Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Steelers (Buy)

2 of 3

If you saw Sunday night's game against the Colts, you know how displeased owners must be with Rashard Mendenhall so far this season. Through three games, he is averaging less than 50 rushing yards per game.

Some owners are probably fed up by now, and they probably don't realize how banged up the offensive line is. The offensive line will heal up and improve, and we have to have faith that the Steelers' defense will pick it up.

Find the owner in your league who has given up on Mendenhall and try to get him for cheap.

Mike Williams, WR, Buccaneers (Buy)

3 of 3

After an outstanding rookie campaign, Mike Williams is off to a slow start in the 2011 season. In week two, he went for negative four receiving yards.

In the first three games of the season, he hasn't even accumulated 100 yards receiving yet. Defenses are focusing more on him this season than last because they know what to expect, but Freeman and the entire Tampa Bay offense have yet to click this season.

Williams is a stud whom Freeman will continue to look to in the redzone because of his ability to make amazing grabs on the edges of the endzone.

Go out and get him while he's frustrating owners.
