WWE Hell in a Cell 2011 Preview: A Night to Expect the Unexpected

Nathan GieseSep 28, 2011

With Hell in a Cell coming only two weeks after the wild endings at Night of Champions, there was very little time to get storylines to further and expand.

CM Punk is longer fighting against Triple H, rather he is finally getting his rematch for the WWE Championship.

Miz and R Truth have been fired after their actions at Night of Champions and no longer on the active roster.

Mark Henry has continued to show his dominance while holding his newly won World  Heavyweight Championship while Randy Orton is on a rampage reminiscent to that of his days as a heel.

Mid-carders are uniting a front against the COO in an effort to get their justice they feel they deserve.

What can we expect from this night that is known for pain and agony to the competitors inside the massive structure from hell?

The answers may surprise you somewhat.

Only the 3 Already Announced Title Matches Will Take Place

1 of 6

What I mean here is that only the WWE, World Heavyweight and the Diva's championships will be defended this time.

It's customary for title matches to be announced just days or even the day of the coming pay per view, but this time only those three will be defended.

The only exception that could come of this is a possible rematch with Dolph Ziggler putting his US title on the line against Zack Ryder and his new friend Mason Ryan in his corner to counter a possible attack from Jack Swagger.

These three title matches have enough hype surrounding them that it isn't really necessary to force any other title matches into the equation.

Beth is looking to win the Diva's title for the third straight time after losing to Kelly twice in a row now.  Punk, John Cena and Alberto Del Rio all have a score to settle against each other that will involve a lot of twists and turns and momentum swings throughout the match.  Orton looks to inflict the same pain he inflicted on Cody Rhodes last week on Henry to regain his title.

The last two are inside of a cell and generally speaking those types of matches take some time to develop if they want them to be legitimate.

There's no need to have filler championship matches that will be forgettable.

Beth Phoenix Will Once Again Lose to Kelly Kelly

2 of 6

While many expect Beth to destroy Kelly this time around, the company sees Kelly as the future of the Diva's division and want to make her a credible champion.

What's more credible than defeating the Glamazon three times in a row to retain your title?  Nothing.

Beth is considered one of the best and strongest divas the company has ever had, comparative only to Chyna in the Attitude Era with more sex appeal.

Kelly has been written up to be a solid champion and that's not about to stop.  The only thing is, she'll defeat Beth by disqualification.

No, Kelly is not going to use underhanded tricks to win because that's not her style.  Rather, Eve will start to attack Kelly on the outside, giving Kelly the win.

Eve, however, will act like she was only protecting Kelly so she can keep her title in fear of what the angry Beth would do to her given the opportunity.  This will lead to a gradual heel turn by Eve as she looks to gain her title back she held earlier this year rather than being Kelly's buddy.

Henry Will Remain World Champion at Nights End

3 of 6

This shouldn't come to much of a surprise to anybody at this point.

Henry is a monster and has been given the opportunity of a life time.  He's destroying everybody that looks at him funny or attempts to question his credibility.

Orton has been angry since losing the title, destroying Rhode's head in the process.

But nothing is going to stop Henry's incredible roll as he will continue to dominate but not without a little help from a friend.

Rhodes is going to get involved in some capacity and cost his former stable leader his shot at regaining the World title.

Miz, R Truth and Kevin Nash Will Be Nowhere to Be Found

4 of 6

Now that Miz and R-Truth have been fired, the conspiracy continues.

They beat up officials and interfered in Triple H and Punk's match at NOC, causing them to lose their jobs.

In order to make the firing angle have some back bone behind it, Miz and Truth will be kept off of television for a while.  They aren't John Cena so they will not show up whenever the feel like it like he did when he was fired.

They will take this vacation time and think of new and improved ways to make the conspiracy theory come out.

They are not alone, so their return will come as soon as the lawsuit against the company comes to be a legal document.

Neither John Cena nor Alberto Del Rio Will Be WWE Champion

5 of 6

While Punk was thrown into this triple-threat Hell in a Cell contest for the strap as an added bonus, fully expect him to be the one to walk away with the gold.

Del Rio annihilated Cena and Punk to close Raw this lack, but that was just a smoke screen to make people believe that he would regain his gold.

Cena is always written to be the man the company looks to to bring the title glory, but his days are numbered and this will be one of his shortest reigns ever as champion.

Kevin Nash will not be involved but Triple H certainly will be.  He's involved in everything surrounding the WWE title which is where the conspiracy begins.  Triple H will cost John Cena his WWE Championship.

That's right, I said it.  Hunter gained respect for Punk after their match two weeks ago, so now the Game has bigger fish to fry.  And what bigger fish is there besides the big tuna himself Cena?

Although some people expect to see Del Rio win the title back for the company's up coming tour in Mexico, it's not going to happen.  That's what they want us to think because it makes the most sense.

And since when do they make sense in their story telling anymore, or do exactly what we expect to happen?

In Closing

6 of 6

There it is folks.

Hell in a Cell may just be a copy and pasted version of Night of Champions with the two week build up to some extent, but it will be anything but predictable.

We always like to think we know what's going to happen because of what makes sense at the time.  Except now the WWE is starting to throw us a lot of curve balls when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Be prepared to expect the unexpected.
