NFL Picks Week 4: Which Teams Will Stay Winless on the Season?

Ryan PhillipsSep 28, 2011

Through three weeks of the NFL season, there are still five teams searching for their first wins. One of those teams is almost guaranteed to end up 0-4 after this weekend's slate of games.

The Indianapolis Colts are still searching for answers at the quarterback position in Peyton Manning's absence. A franchise that has been built around a quarterback-centric offense is now floundering with the league's 27th-ranked passing attack (164 yards per game).

Right now, the Colts aren't even sure who will start under-center this week.

Indianapolis will travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers on Monday night in Week 4. The Bucs are 2-1 after back-to-back wins over the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons. While they haven't been impressive thus far, they should handle the hapless Colts.

While Indianapolis put up a good fight against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night in a 23-20 loss, the Colts will have an extremely difficult time duplicating that effort from a defensive standpoint. Despite playing well this week, Indianapolis still ranks 19th in total defense, allowing 365 yards per game.

If the Colts hope to turn things around this season, their defense will have to get significantly better very soon. With shaky quarterback play, courtesy of Kerry Collins and Curtis Painter, Indianapolis will not be able to rely on their offense to win games.

While the Colts are almost assured to fall this week, we're also guaranteed to have another 0-4 team as the winless Minnesota Vikings travel to Kansas City to face the similarly winless Kansas City Chiefs.

I think the Vikings will put together enough offense to pull out a road win, but that game could go either way. As far as I'm concerned, Indianapolis is the only team guaranteed to be winless after Week 4.
