NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Which Teams Did ESPN Diss Most?

John RozumJun 4, 2018

Let's face it, whenever anyone comes up with their own version of the NFL's power rankings, not everyone is going to agree.

And although that goes without saying, the "experts" at ESPN are no exception to that rule either.

So with that in mind, who got dissed in Week 4?

Well, based on my power rankings below you can tell, but here's three team ESPN got wrong.

Houston Texans

The Texans lost a barn-burn on the road against the New Orleans Saints, but dropped three spots from No. 5 to No. 8.

However, the New England Patriots lose on the road to the Buffalo Bills—who were No. 16 at the time—in a close game, only dropped one spot.

If the Patriots are to remain in front of Houston, although they shouldn't, at least keep it closer than five spots because the Texans are a Top Five team.

Chicago Bears

The Bears dropped from No. 10 to No. 18 in the latest ESPN power rankings, and although they have a record of 1-2, both of their losses are to the Saints and Packers.

How Chicago responds in Week 4 is crucial, because if they disappoint again, then they should drop because that would have exposed their mental toughness in coming back from a tough loss.

However, don't punish them for losing to the two best teams in football just yet, because how they overcome this turmoil against non-Super Bowl contenders will be more telling.

Carolina Panthers

The experts did right by moving the Carolina Panthers up five spots from No. 27 to No. 22 however, they shouldn't have been ranked that low in the first place because losing the first two games of the season by only a TD was impressive.

Especially since the first was on the road in Arizona, which is not as easy as most think, and then home against Green Bay.

Carolina has played better than Cleveland and San Fran, but apparently going toe-to-toe with the defending Super Bowl champions isn't good enough to garner any Top 20 respect.
