College Football Rankings: 3 Teams That Must Prove Their Worth in Week 5
The Top 25 polls are constantly being debated as several teams have yet to prove they're worthy of their rankings.
The rankings are sure to change after Week 5 because four games feature two ranked opponents playing one another.
Those teams that aren't getting enough praise have a chance to show they are the real deal this weekend.
Here are three teams that must prove their worth this Saturday.
No. 12 Florida
The Gators host the No. 3-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night and if they want to be taken seriously in the SEC, they have to win this game.
Will Muschamp will compete against Nick Saban, who was the man that kick-started Muschamp's coaching career. Florida's best win has come over Tennessee, but the Volunteers aren't anywhere near the talent level of the Crimson Tide.
The Gators feel great about their chances because it's at home, and if they win they would certainly jump into the Top 10. However, the Alabama defense is one of, if not the best in the country and finding success against them will be difficult.
No. 13 Clemson
The Tigers haven't played a road game this year and their first one just happens to be at the No. 11-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies.
Lane Stadium is a very difficult place to play, especially at night. The second half will be under the lights, which will only make the atmosphere more intense for the Tigers.
Clemson has had some great home wins against Auburn and Florida State, but there are still questions surrounding this young team. They will be taken seriously if they're able to win on the road in Blacksburg, but to do that they'll have to continue to play well and not make mistakes.
Too often a young team will go on the road and shoot themselves in the foot—this is something the Tigers must avoid if they want to be considered a legit Top 15 team.
No. 8 Nebraska
The Cornhuskers haven't played anyone of worth this season and the fact that they've had slow starts against cupcake opponents puts them on this list.
In their first season in the Big Ten, Nebraska is already considered a favorite to win the conference. This weekend is a chance to live up to the hype as they travel to Madison, Wisconsin, to take on the Badgers.
Wisconsin is a better team in my eyes, but the Cornhuskers can prove a lot of people wrong with a win on Saturday. They can't afford to start slow though, because the Badgers will make them pay.
