Pacquiao vs. Marquez: 4 Reasons Marquez Has a Chance Against Pac-Man
As the rubber match between pound-for-pound great Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez on the horizon, more and more attention will be paid to whether or not Marquez stands a chance against Pacquiao—I feel the answer is a resounding yes.
Here are the four reasons Marquez has a chance of taking down the champ in his third attempt.
History on Marquez's Side
1 of 4This is the third installment between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez and the past two fights Marquez has showed that he is right there with Pac-Man, as both of the previous fights could have gone in his decision as easily as they went Pacquiao's.
Marquez's style of fighting gives Pacquiao problems, and it will be the same old story again in this time around, with the two fighters taking it the full 12 rounds and again will be a close decision.
With that being said, it is extremely difficult to defeat a opponent twice, let alone three times, and this gives Marquez a prime spot to finally score his win over one of the best boxers of the last decade.
Speed of Marquez
2 of 4Sure Manny Pacquiao is known for being of the fastest punchers in all of boxing, but Juan Manuel Marquez is no slouch himself when it comes to speed of hands, and this has bothered Pacquiao in their two previous fights.
Marquez is under the radar when it comes to his speed, but we have seen Marquez able and willing to land punches in bunches against Pacquiao in their two previous fights, and that is something that Marquez should be focusing on when going in to the third edition versus Pacquiao.
Marquez's Underratted Jab
3 of 4Juan Manuel Marquez has an underrated jab that he can land with regularity, and we have seen is do it's damage against Manny Pacquiao.
Marquez's ability to rifle off his jab so quickly, and so efficiently gives Pacquiao as much problem as anything Marquez can bring to the table in the fight.
The jab helps keep Pacquiao at bay, and keeping Pacquiao at an arm's distance raises the chance that Marquez will win the fight.
Pacquiao's Difficulty Agaisnt Marquez's Counter Punching
4 of 4Another thing that has become apparent in the last two times Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez have faced off is that Pacquiao has trouble against a solid counter puncher.
Marquez is one of the better counter punchers in boxing, outside of Floyd Mayweather, and Pacquiao has been handed the most damage in their two previous fights with Marquez's pin-point accurate counter punching. It will be hard for Pacquiao to defend any better against that this time around.
The fact that Pacquiao struggles so much against Marquez's counter punching is what puts a serious doubt on Pacquiao being able to beat Mayweather, as no one counter punches better than Pretty Boy himself. It's also something Marquez learned first hand when he faced off with Mayweather back in 2009.
