NFL Predictions Week 4: Jimmy Graham and 4 TEs Who Will Put Up Big Numbers

Roberto PayneSep 28, 2011

Tight end play has been much improved this season, and several tight ends have emerged as top-tier players.

Youngsters like Scott Chandler, Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham have proven they are here to stay and ready to usher in the new wave of tight ends.

Read on for four tight ends who will have good Week 4 games and help their teams dramatically.

Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons

1 of 4

Tony Gonzalez is the consummate professional and keeps on keeping on every week. The Atlanta Falcons play the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle and Gonzalez is going to have a field day.

The Seahawks are currently giving up 218.3 passing yards per game, which is good for 13th in the league.

Something has got to give, and I think it'll be the pass defense of the Seahawks. It's very tough to defend Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and Julio Jones, all the while trying to stop Michael Turner from running it down your throat from the backfield.

Seattle cornerbacks Marcus Trufant and Brandon Browner are going to be focused on the receivers, so Gonzalez should have plenty of open space over the middle.

Look for a game similar to that of the Philadelphia Eagles matchup.

Scott Chandler, Buffalo Bills

2 of 4

Scott Chandler made a huge splash Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs—the game that started the Chiefs' incredible collapse.

Chandler had five catches for 56 yards and two big touchdowns. Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick looked for Chandler multiple times in the end zone, and it really paid off for both and the team.

Chandler has a touchdown in each game and has proven to be a reliable tight end week-in and week-out. The Bills play a very bad Cincinnati Bengals team this Sunday and Chandler should have a field day.

Don't be surprised if he plays as good as he did in Week 1.

Rob Gronkoswki, New England Patriots

3 of 4

Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez combined to form the most deadly tight end duo in the league, before Hernandez was injured.

Now Gronkowski is the feature tight end and hasn't disappointed. In the two games Hernandez has missed, Gronk has 11 catches for 195 yards and four touchdowns.

That is an unbelievable stat-line for a tight end in a two-game stretch, and I don't see why it can't continue against the Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders held the New York Jets down, but the Patriots are a different machine. Tom Brady loves to use Gronk and I think he'll score, at least, one touchdown in the game.

Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints

4 of 4

Jimmy Graham had his breakout game against the Houston Texans with four catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Graham showed be can not only make big plays but, more importantly, clutch plays down the stretch.

It doesn't hurt that he has Drew Brees targeting him and the Jacksonville Jaguars' porous defense is even more help to Graham. Brees is going to have a field day with the Jaguars secondary and I expect every receiver, Graham included, to have huge games.

Graham could easily score and approach the century mark once again against Jacksonville.
