Chael Sonnen Rips Anderson Silva, Says Silva Has a Menstrual Cycle
Chael Sonnen has been relatively quiet since UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva defeated Yushin Okami at UFC 134, aside from taking some shots at Strikeforce heavyweight Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and fellow UFC middleweight Vitor Belfort.
Despite that fact, it should come as no surprise that Sonnen absolutely dropped a bomb on his arch-nemesis Anderson Silva in a brief interview with Paul Lazenby.
When Lazenby asked Sonnen if he thought “The Spider” ever used banned substances, Sonnen replied in typical sarcastic, yet scathing fashion.
"I don't think that treatment for Anderson's problems is prohibited by the UFC, even right before a match,” Sonnen began.
“Some medications are limited, as you know, but Anderson is in a state of medical legitimacy because I don't think that Midol is prohibited, nor are chocolate or Gerard Butler movies.”
Sonnen is known to lay it on thick, especially when talking about anyone with the last name “Silva,” but he really went for the jugular on this one.
“I have never personally had to deal with his sort of condition, but I feel for him and I really want to see what his top fighting form actually is, since we apparently haven't seen it yet.”
“I can't remember the last time that he didn't say he was hurt for a match, and it's starting to alienate the fight fans."
Uncle Chael is referencing the fact that Silva’s camp revealed that the 185-pound champ fought Okami with a shoulder injury and was probably also questioning whether or not that Silva had an undisclosed rib injury during their fight at UFC 117.
Sonnen concluded by saying:
“So he should take care of himself when he's suffering, or else the public will be stuck with the same unengaging fights and lackluster victories until he either dies or finally hits menopause."
The always-very-vocal Team Quest fighter has a chance to get his heavily anticipated rematch with Silva if Sonnen defeats Brian Stann at UFC 136 in a middleweight title eliminator.
