Typically college basketball's official start of the season was celebrated by a midnight celebration of the men's and women's college basketball teams at their respective college campuses. It was a big deal for fans to come see the new team "practice" and show off for the fans. Indiana has done this for years.

A few years ago, the NCAA allowed teams to start earlier on Friday evening instead of having people stay up so late.

This year Hoosier Hysteria will start at 7:30 P.M. on October 15 instead of October 14.

I think the Hoosiers switched this because highly-touted recruit Gary Harris is set to visit the campus that Saturday and they wanted to make sure he was able to attend Hoosier Hysteria.

Due to Harris playing football for local Indianapolis high school Hamilton Southeastern, he would not be able to attend the events if held on a Friday.

Harris is set to visit rival Purdue this Saturday as a guest of the Boilermakers for the Notre Dame-Purdue football game.

The doors open at Assembly Hall on October 15 at 6:30 P.M.
