Real Madrid vs. Ajax: Kaka Flourishes as Los Blancos Dismiss Ajax

Gabe ZaldivarSep 27, 2011

Football fans were resigned to a dynamic Real Madrid side getting over Ajax in Champions League play. What was not expected was a resurgent Kaka putting a huge stamp on the match.

Ajax was given little chance by fans and pundits ahead of Tuesday's contest. Los Blancos are a more creative side with far more experienced weapons.

Add to that the mystique of the Bernabeu, and Ajax was plodding into a fool's errand. It took just 25 minutes for Real Madrid to put Ajax on their heels.

After a flurry of shots, Cristiano Ronaldo took the ball on a break away and netted home the game's first of three goals.

Ronaldo then helped out the game's most spry individual when he fed Kaka just outside the box. The star midfielder left-footed the ball in, sealing the fate fro Ajax before the intermission.

A goal from Karim Benzema on the other side of the half was the last goal the game would see. Real Madrid was content to rest on the laurels they supplied early on. Ajax's desperation in the later minutes were as fruitless as you would expect.

Kaka has been mired in injury since he came from AC Milan in 2009. If he is going to present the kind of creativity and poise that he did on Tuesday, he will force Jose Mourinho's hand into starting him far more often.

Los Blancos are already a star-studded side, but with an in-form Kaka they are nearly unbeatable. Real Madrid controls their group after securing maximum points in the first two starts.

Ajax are feeling the pressure as they have just a lone point going into their match against Dinamo Zagreb. It should be a dog fight between Ajax and Lyon by the time the group stage closes.

Madrid is showing that they have the pace to weather any storm the group will offer, and use the matches to grow stronger.

A player like Kaka can use these games to take the form he showed on Tuesday and extend that on a consistent basis.

Ajax accomplished a feat that is not normally possible: they allowed Madrid to get better.
