Hope Solo Video: Watch ESPN Anchor Ruin Solo and Alex Morgan's Fun
I didn't know what was better in ESPN's latest SportsCenter commercial: Having Hope Solo and Alex Morgan in the same video, Solo's expression after an ESPN anchor flubbed a pass, or the fact that the Miami Dolphins' mascot was involved.
Solo, Morgan and the Dolphins' mascot get a pretty good rally going, kicking and heading the ball back and forth like a game of hacky sack—It sure seemed like the Dolphins' mascot was having a good time.
However, it only took ESPN anchor Jay Harris to come in and ruin the party. On Morgan's first pass to Harris, after some prompting, Harris kicks it in the opposite direction; the ball crashing into some nearby cubicles in the network's Bristol, CT offices. As Harris runs to get the ball, Solo's expression says it all: "This was a bad idea."
Harris attempts to make up for his flub by telling Morgan it was a bad pass, and the four begin again.
Admittedly, every time I see a new SportsCenter commerical, excitement comes about. It started all the way back with the classics, moved onto Brian Wilson's beard, and has now given us another reason to love mascots and the U.S. women's team.
ESPN sure knows how to draw an audience. There are few commercials that don't make me throw my remote at the screen, and somehow there was something calming about having Solo, Morgan and the Dolphins' mascot in the same frame.
You get two women's stars and a mascot, and somehow that makes me smile.
Job well done once again, SportsCenter. Although, next time I expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' pirate mascot involved.
