Detroit Lions: Tameable And Laughable

Is it possible for a team NOT to win a single game in a season? Well it just might be for the Detroit Lions who lost their traditional Thanksgiving game in a blow out! The Detroit Lions have been in the NFL for 75 years, and besides four super bowls, their last in 1957, the Lions are by far one of the WORST franchises in the NFL.

Currently last in the NFC North at (0-12) after loosing at home on Thanksgiving to the (11-1) Tennessee Titans 47-10, Detroit has become the laughing stock of the league. The Detroit Lions are in last place in the NFC North and some believe they may make history becoming the only team in NFL history to go (0-16).

Okay, the Lions havn't won a single game all season long, and yes they play like kittens but is it possible for them to go 0-16?! Well after being served for a Thanksgiving dinner at home in a blow out to the Titans, Detroit has fallen to 0-12 and are still win less. Their schedule doesn't look appealing for them either as they host Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings next week, then face the Indianapolis Colts, the New Orleans Saints and then finish off the season at Green Bay.

If there is any hope for the Lions it will more likely come next week against the Vikings at home or against the Green Bay Packers Week 17. The NFL has never had a 0-16 team but history might be making a new mark for the Lions and the 2008-2009 season. Detroit had been playing horrible all season long with quarterback struggles from Dan Orlovsky and veteran Daunte Culpepper. Also they are home to the League's worst run defense and 19th ranked pass defense as Titans rookie running-back Chris Johnson ran for 125 yards and two touchdowns Thursday.

The Lions head coach Rob Marinelli despite loosing every week says  "the record doesn't show it, but I have great belief in myself." In three years Marinelli is 10-34, fans must wonder how much belief he has in himself coaching a win less team!

The Lions organization thought there problems would be saved when the let President and CEO Matt Millen early into the season after years of loosing and a 31-84 record, but it still hasn't payed off. Detroit also thought it was a smart idea to get rid of wide receiver Roy Williams in a trade to the Dallas Cowboys before the trade deadline. Well let's see the first plan didn't work, how much ya wanna' bet this is going to fail?!

Calvin Johnson however has seen an increase in throws to him since the trade. The Lions recent draft pick have been on offense when fans feel they need to work on their tame defense. The Lions not to mention parted ways with Shaun Rodgers who was picked up by the Cleavland Browns in the off season. The drafting can be seen in they way the Detroit Lions have been playing in recent years. In a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, one of the defensive linemen said he got mad because the Jags players "were laughing at them" and for good reason as Marice Jones Drew ran for three touchdowns and Jacksonville won easy 38-14.

Sorry to rain on the pity party Detroit but have you looked at your record?! You guys havn't won a game since November 4th of last year!!! People are saying your going to make history and become the first 0-16 team ever!!!

I'd be laughing at you too, try watching the film again and maybe you will see what every one means! And don't forget to smile when they ask to take a photo for the record books! Because your remaining games are way too far out of your reach to win! Seriously, you and the Oakland Raiders should get together for a party! You can celebrate how bad your teams are. Don't worry Lions fans, someday you might have a good year, but it make take a decade! We will be there when your kittens make that mark even if your coach refuses to "jump ship" before the season is over. Hey maybe your Lions will be smart with their number one draft pick? But hey you've heard that one before!
