Peyton Manning Severely Missed: Colts Looking to Dan Orlovsky or Brodie Croyle

Cedric HopkinsSep 27, 2011

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.

The Colts are working out quarterbacks Dan Orlovsky and Brodie Croyle, according to the Indianapolis Star.

This is the Colts' second look at Orlovsky.  He was on the Colts' preseason roster but did not make the final cut. Enter Act Two.

The last time Orlovsky took a snap in a regular season game was in 2008 with the Detroit Lions. That season, he played in 10 games, had a 56.1 percent completion rating, compiled a 72.6 passer rating, and threw for as many interceptions as he did touchdowns: eight.

While adding Orlovsky may not be an answer, it's a necessity.

Kerry Collins suffered a concussion against the Steelers this past Sunday and has yet to be cleared for the Monday Night Football game against Tampa Bay.

The Colts also brought in Brodie Croyle to work out, but it's highly unlikely he will sign over Orlovsky.  After playing for the Colts in the preseason, Orlovsky knows the Colts' system much better than Croyle. And as Reggie Wayne instructed us this preseason, the Colts "ain't no simple offense."

A better explanation for the Colts bringing in Croyle is to have a gander at his wife, Kelli, the 2005 America Junior Miss winner because he's clearly not the answer.

There is always Jeff George.
