Percy Harvin Injury: Updates on Vikings Star's Week 4 Status and Fantasy Value

Kyle VassaloJun 7, 2018

Percy Harvin owners have to be relieved to find out that his illness was in no way related to the migraines that have plagued him throughout his career. A stomach illness gave Harvin fits last week, but it appears that he should be ready to go for Week 4.

While Harvin should return to the lineup and have an impact against the Chiefs, his injury status is worth checking on throughout the week. A lingering stomach illness would make him too big of a risk to start, even if he does take the field.

Harvin was on the field for the Vikings and had six touches in the first half. He took his two carries for 21 yards, caught all three passes thrown his way for 27 yards and took one kick return back for 25 yards.

The Vikings trail 9-7 at halftime and will Harvin should see another 6-10 touches at least.

According to CBS Sports, Harvin is going to be ready to go this week. Here was the player update they offered on September 26th:

"

Harvin ready for practice this week: Vikings WR Percy Harvin missed a series against the Lions on Sunday, and it was originally reported as an injury. “I didn’t realize he was over there throwing up and really struggling -- more with illness than anything,” coach Leslie Frazier said. “He met with our trainers (Monday) morning, and he’s fine and looking forward to practice on Wednesday.”

"

As bad as the stomach illness sounds, the Vikings and Harvin fantasy owners should be relieved. It's not his head, which means he should avoid missing significant time. Something like a stomach illness shouldn't keep him from performing next week against the Chiefs.

From the moment Chris Mortenson Tweeted that Harvin would be active with a stomach illness against the Lions, his Week 4 status became fairly obvious. They obviously expect him to recover fully and it would be shocking to see Harvin sidelined this week.

Fantasy Value:

Don't be afraid to start Harvin this week. The Chiefs are terrible and the Vikings are still fighting for their first win. Obviously Adrian Peterson is going to destroy the Chiefs this week, but the passing game should get going as well.

You shouldn't have any reservations about putting Harvin in your lineup as long as we don't hear anything about him regressing. Even at less than 100 percent, he has the upper hand against the Chiefs secondary.
