NFL Power Rankings Week 4: Teams That Won't Slide Out of the Top 10 This Year

Alex KaySep 27, 2011

Each year there are a few teams that waffle in and out of the Top 10 of the power rankings all season long because they suffer strange losses to bad teams and then beat good ones.

However, there are also teams that consistently win, and many of these clubs go on to win 11, 12 or even more games a season and never once relinquish their position atop the ranks.

Let’s take a look at a few of these squads who shouldn’t leave the Top 10 power rankings once this season.

Green Bay Packers

These guys have been at or near the top for the entire season, and last year’s Super Bowl champions have no shot of leaving that position.

They are undefeated right now, even though they had some close calls against the Saints and, surprisingly, the Panthers.

Green Bay has a relatively easy schedule this season and I can see it easily taking home the top seed in the NFC and making another Super Bowl run.

New England Patriots

Even after losing to Buffalo last week, I can’t drop this powerhouse from the Top 10. The Patriots dominated the Chargers and Dolphins and Brady had a terrible game against the Bills but still threw for over 380 yards and four touchdowns.

Their schedule is quite easy this year, and barring a bunch of four-interception games from Tom, the team will be able to handle its business from here on out.

New Orleans Saints

This is the best team in the tough NFC South, and it is getting it done.

The Saints' one loss came to a very good Green Bay team, and they have showed resilience in the fourth quarter, especially this past week against the Texans.

I can’t see them falling outside the Top 10 this year behind Drew Brees’ cannon arm and their stacked running back platoon.
