NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Are Staging Biggest Turnarounds?

Chris TrapassoJun 7, 2018

Never go into a NFL season with preconceived notions about any team. You just never know.

We see new clubs in the playoffs every year, and many of them were predicted to finish with sub-.500 records.

After some brutal 2010 seasons, these team's are staging the biggest turnarounds in the NFL so far.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo didn't treat their fans to a win until Week 10 last season.

Now, they're coming off the biggest win in 10 years and sit atop the AFC East with a stunning 3-0 record.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is slowly but surely legitimizing himself as a gun-slinging quarterback who can win football games, and Fred Jackson is one of the most versatile running backs in the the NFL.

The receiving corp is comprised of seventh-round draft picks (Stevie Johnson) and un-drafted free agents (Donald Jones, David Nelson and Naaman Roosevelt), but they play they play like guys that were highly-touted entering the draft.

There's a real buzz in Buffalo about their football team and with good reason.

Detroit Lions

Through 12 games last year, the Lions mustered only two wins.

Now, they're 3-0 and are a team no one wants on their schedule.

Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson are on pace to connect for 34 touchdowns and second-year running back Jahvid Best is running with more conviction through the holes.

The defensive line has performed at a high level, and rookie Nick Fairley hasn't played a down yet.

Detroit's secondary is surrendering a mere 188 yards per game so far and really, I can't find a true weak spot on this team.

Cleveland Browns

The Dawg Pound has been waiting for a winner for quite some time now, and this Browns team could be the one.

They lost on a fluky play against their in-state rival Bengals in Week 1, but have won two straight and are a very balanced club.

Colt McCoy isn't an elite quarterback, but he limits mistakes and usually makes the right decisions in the passing game.

The defense isn't star-studded, but they've been stout enough to keep games low-scoring.

Cleveland hasn't been truly tested yet, but they are playing sound football right now.

They started the year 1-5 in 2010—I think the Dawg Pound is happy with the 2-1 start.

How about that Rust Belt?
