NFL Picks Week 4: Teams Getting Too Much Respect from Vegas

Alex KayJun 7, 2018

We’re at that strange part of the season where real NFL fans can really get a clear picture of what teams are legitimate contenders and who isn’t living up to the hype.

However, it seems that a certain amount of clubs are still living off their preseason reputation and giving up way too many points this week, after they have consistently proved they aren’t good teams this year.

Let’s take a look at three of these over-hyped and overrated teams that Vegas can’t seem to properly evaluate.

San Diego Chargers -9 vs Miami Dolphins

This team hasn’t covered a single spread all season yet still has to give up nine points to a decent Miami Dolphins team that plays better on the road.

For some reason they were favored by anywhere between 14 and 15 points last week and won by three against a struggling Chiefs team.

Why the heck were the Chargers favored by over two touchdowns in a divisional Week 3 game??

Just because Jamaal Charles and Eric Berry are out for the year does not make Kansas City a junior-varsity squad.

I would take the points with Miami and keep going against the Chargers until San Diego proves they can cover a spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -10 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Does Vegas really think the Steelers are that bad?

The Colts put up a fight against them behind solid rushing and good defense against a team they see often and game-planned for.

They still have all the key pieces from when Peyton Manning led the team to the playoffs last year and are competitive.

The Bucs have yet to win a game by more than four points and that includes games against a Minnesota team that can’t win to save its life and an Atlanta squad that no one can quite figure out yet.

To have Tampa Bay favored by 10 on "Monday Night Football" is incredulous. Take the points with the Colts all day.

Arizona Cardinals +2 vs. New York Giants

Cardinals getting two at home versus the Giants isn’t enough. The Giants are a good football team and the Cardinals are a very bad one.

The G-Men took care of business against the Eagles on Sunday while the Cardinals faltered to Tarvaris “3rd-and-Long” Jackson and the lowly Seahawks.

This is a slap in the face to the Giants and a sign that the Cardinals are still getting way too much respect in the Kevin Kolb era.
