Mayweather vs. Ortiz: Money May to Give Ortiz a Rematch If He Beats Berto, Again

Floyd Mayweather has officially put out the challenge for Victor Ortiz to gain a rematch with him after Mayweather's controversial knockout win on September 17.

Give Andre Berto a rematch and beat him again.

Mayweather took to his Twitter and said: @FloydMayweather I'll give Ortiz a rematch but first he got to get passed Andre Berto.

If Ortiz wants any kind of career redemption he would be foolish not to take a rematch with Berto in order to get another shot at Money May.

In the process, the fight fans would get two great fights if this plan to redemption ever takes place. With both fighters scoring knockdowns before Ortiz ultimately won the fight by KO, a Ortiz-Berto rematch would be a great prelude to a Mayweather-Ortiz rematch, if Ortiz can get by Berto again.

Some have speculated that Berto overlooked Ortiz in their first fight, and a focused Berto could end any hope of Ortiz gaining his much wanted rematch with Mayweather.

Mainly because it is no guarantee that Ortiz would beat Berto again, especially after the confidence-bursting loss to Mayweather.

Boxing fans can only hope this duel rematch plan takes place; there would be two great fights too look forward to in 2012.

On a bad note, this rematch plan would put even more doubt on Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather facing off in 2012.

The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is speculated to take place around September if it does get signed for next year, so it wouldn't logically fit in a time line for Mayweather, as a Ortiz-Berto rematch would likely take place in the spring of 2012, setting up the possible Mayweather-Ortiz rematch to take in September of 2012.

These developments will make for a interesting boxing year in 2012 already, so boxing fans will have something to look forward to in the new year.
