Redskins vs. Cowboys: Will Tony Romo Have Last Laugh Against DeAngelo Hall?

Tim KeeneySep 26, 2011

Tony Romo enters Monday Night Football against the Washington Redskins with a broken rib and a punctured lung.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall is hoping that Romo leaves Cowboys Stadium with a lot more than that, but the Cowboys might just get the last laugh.

Romo and star wide receiver Dez Bryant are both banged up, but if they manage to avoid Hall's head-hunting, they only need to be at about 50 percent in order to pick on the Redskins secondary.

Hall is certainly talented, but he often loses focus and that can lead to big plays. Case in point last week when he was holding Larry Fitzgerald in check until he gave up a 70-yard touchdown late in the game.

Dez Bryant will likely see double coverage for most of the game, but he still has the necessary talent to beat the coverage.

Broken rib or not, there's no question that Romo can get the ball to him with consistency. Romo will likely target the second-year receiver out of Oklahoma State all day allowing Bryant to break off at least one or two big plays.

Romo just needs to have time to throw.

Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan will likely bring a lot of pressure and it will be key for the young Cowboys offensive line to keep them from getting to the fragile Romo. The leash is likely short for Romo and the banged up 'Boys, so if he gets hit too many times he may be pulled from the game.

And thus it becomes that simple. If Romo can sit in the pocket with relative ease, he and Dez Bryant will have time to embarrass DeAngelo Hall and come out as winners.

If that Cowboys offensive line falters, however, Hall may get his wish to put his helmet into Romo's ribs and deliver him from the game.
