UFC 141 Fight Card: Will Brock Lesnar Be Physically Ready to Fight?
Brock Lesnar will return to the Octagon for the first time in nearly a year when he takes on Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.
Lesnar, who hasn't fought since October of 2010, took a leave of absence from the UFC after being diagnosed with an illness.
This wasn't the first illness Lesnar had undergone.
In 2009, Lesnar was set to square off with Shane Carwin in a highly anticipated heavyweight title fight at UFC 106.
Lesnar was later pulled from the fight, as it was rescheduled for UFC 108 in Las Vegas, Nev.
But once again, Lesnar came down with an illness and was pulled from the fight card.
Later diagnosed with mononucleosis and diverticulitis, Lesnar wouldn't return until UFC 115, where he squared off with Shane Carwin in Vancouver, Canada.
Lesnar retained his UFC heavyweight championship via arm triangle choke at 2:19 in the second round of action.
Lesnar would lose his very next fight to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 before taking off for nearly a year.
During that time, Lesnar underwent surgery that removed a 12-inch piece of colon from his body.
Lesnar, now set to take on arguably one of the greatest heavyweights in MMA history, will be not only be tested mentally, but physically.
But, this isn't the first time Lesnar's been off a substantial amount of time.
After defeating Frank Mir at UFC 100 via technical knockout, Lesnar didn't fight again for nearly a full year.
Since injuries have taken a significant toll on Lesnar's career, questions will begin to arise of his physical condition heading into UFC 141.
Lesnar recently stated he's at full health and it's the best he's felt in a long time.
While fans would like to believe Lesnar's 100 percent healthy, it's difficult not to question due to his history with injuries.
In order for Lesnar to defeat Overeem, he'll certainly have to be at the top of his game.
Whether or not Lesnar's at full health will be revealed on December 30, 2011.
Will Brock Lesnar be physically ready to fight at UFC 141 when he enters the Octagon in front of a sold out MGM Garden Arena?
