Fantasy Football Week 3: Torrey Smith and Other Free Agents Available Now
Another week has come and gone in the National Football League and with another week in the books there were a slew of fantasy football surprises. Who saw this guy named Torrey Smith going off for three touchdowns yesterday against St. Louis?
If you say yes you did you're a liar; Smith is only owned by 13 percent of players on Yahoo!
Torrey Smith and these other free agents are probably available today in your fantasy football league.
These rankings are from Yahoo! If you play in a CBS Sportsline or ESPN or another fantasy league these percentages may differ.
Colt McCoy, Quarterback Cleveland Browns
1 of 10Colt McCoy will not throw for 300 yards every single week. He won't throw for three or more touchdowns every week. But, he will manage a game, he won't turn the ball over and he will get you one to two passing touchdowns and maybe a rushing score.
McCoy is available in 67 percent of leagues.
Matt Hasselbeck, Quarterback Tennessee Titans
2 of 10Just like McCoy, Hasselbeck is a quarterback that manages a game very well that will not turn the ball over. However, unlike McCoy, Matt makes a lot of throws and will rack up the yards. Just last week after losing his top receiver Kenny Britt he still threw for over 300 yards and had two touchdowns.
Matt Hasselbeck is available in 71 percent of leagues.
Michael Bush, Running Back Oakland Raiders
3 of 10You should only own Michael Bush if you are in these situations:
- You own Raiders stating running back Darren McFadden.
- You have nice depth at this position.
- You are in a league that is touchdown-heavy.
The last one is for those leagues that give out one point for 20-25 yards rushing but six for touchdowns.
Bush has two touchdowns in the last two weeks and finds ways to get a good amount of touches during a game. On the season Bush has a balanced 75 yards rushing with 35 yards receiving.
Michael Bush is available in 55 percent of leagues.
Torrey Smith, Wide Receiver Baltimore Ravens
4 of 10Here is everyone's fantasy free-agent pickup for this week. He went off against St. Louis for three touchdowns and 152 yards. He has found a nice connection with Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and could continue this going forward.
Torrey Smith is available in 87 percent of leagues.
Victor Cruz, Wide Receiver New York Giants
5 of 10Just like Colt McCoy was like Matt Hasselbeck earlier in our slideshow, Victor Cruz is like Torrey Smith for the wide receivers.
Coming into this game Victor Cruz had zero fantasy points. Coming into this game barely anyone knew who Victor Cruz or Torrey Smith were. However, after the game against the "Dream Team" defense of the Philadelphia Eagles, there are a lot of people who know the name of Victor Cruz and will own him before Week 4.
Victor Cruz is available in 94 percent of leagues.
Jason Hanson, Kicker Detroit Lions
6 of 10Hey, kickers get as many points as position players. So before you go off and ignore this slide because kickers are a dime a dozen, just stop and know that a kicker can net you 10 or more points every week.
Jason Hanson is one of the most constant fantasy kickers for the last 10 years. This year he is on a Lions team that is not only winning, but scoring points by the dozens.
Jason Hanson is available in 67 percent of leagues.
Rian Lindell, Kicker Buffalo Bills
7 of 10Just like Jason Hanson, Rian Lindell kicks for a team that normally is a bottom feeder in the NFL. Except this year the Buffalo Bills are not only 3-0 but have an offense that is one of the leaders in scoring this year.
Rian Lindell is available in 94 percent of leagues.
San Francisco 49ers Defense
8 of 10The old saying is, "Defense wins championships." It's true when trying to win the Super Bowl in the NFL, but it's true when winning your fantasy league.
You need all the points that you can get and a defense/special teams can net you double-digit points that will push you to a victory.
The 49ers have an elite return man in Ted Ginn Jr and play in the NFC West division. Those two reasons should make you run and pick up this defense for next week.
The 49ers are available in 34 percent of leagues.
Mark Sanchez, Quarterback New York Jets
9 of 10It seems as if this year the New York Jets are going to move away from running the ball and more to a passing attack. This year, Mark Sanchez has already two games of over 300 yards of passing and has thrown for two touchdowns in every game this year.
He has two very good receivers in Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes. He has a good tight end in Dustin Keller to go along with Burress and Holmes. The weapons are there so why don't you go add him?
Mark Sanchez is available in 37 percent of leagues
Nate Washington, Wide Receiver Tennessee Titans
10 of 10To close our list we had some breaking news come across about the Tennessee Titans. No. 1 wide receiver on the depth chart Kenny Britt is now out for the season with an ACL and MCL tear.
That means Nate Washington needs to be picked up now! Like, stop reading this slideshow and go pick him up before someone else does!
Well, follow me first on Twitter @tjmcaloon, then go pick him up.
Nate Washington is available in 69 percent of leagues.
