NFL Predictions Week 4: Which Players Will Rebound from Week 3 Performances?

Chris TrapassoJun 5, 2018

Stars in the NFL aren't going to have huge games every week.

It just doesn't happen.

But the established playmakers always seem to find a way to bounce back after a disappointing effort, don't they?

These three players didn't play to their potential in Week 3, but will rebound next Sunday.

Matt Forte

The Bears running back carried the ball only nine times for two yards against a stingy Packers defense in Chicago's loss to their division rival.

Seriously?

How can Mike Martz give someone as skilled as Forte only nine carries?

I'm fully aware that Martz loves throwing the football and has the talented passer Jay Cutler behind center, but you can't give up on Forte that quickly.

In Martz's defense, the Bears running back wasn't finding any holes and must contribute in the running game as well as the passing game, especially with Chicago's weak offensive line.

Overall, not a horrible game turned in by Forte because he did have seven catches for 80 yards, but expect the Bears to look to establish their running back early and often against the Panthers next week.

Forte should have a big game.

After a scintillating start to the season, Philip Rivers wasn't himself against the lowly Chiefs on Sunday. He threw for 268 yards, which, by his standards, isn't great, and tossed two interceptions with no touchdowns.

The Chargers inserted Ryan Mathews into the offense and the second-year runner had a breakout day, scoring twice.

With that being said, don't expect Rivers to finish many games with a 62.0 quarterback rating like he did against Kansas City.

San Diego travels to Miami next week and No. 17 should be back to normal, especially with the Dolphins having to respect the run.

OK, I'm nit-picking here...a little.

Brady has set the bar so high that I'm allowed to offer a little criticism after he throws for 386-yards and four touchdowns.

Criticism is warranted because the football god was intercepted four times in the Patriots shocking defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.

Brady threw four interceptions all of last season.

He will be back to his typical ways against Oakland on Sunday.

The reigning MVP was uncharacteristically inaccurate on three of the interceptions.

I don't see that continuing next week or for the remainder of the season.

He will be forced to throw frequently with New England's defense getting torched by all three opponents they've faced so far.
