NFL Power Rankings: Which Team Is the Absolute Worst in the League?

Andrea HangstSep 26, 2011

After three weeks' worth of NFL games, the power ranking picture is getting more confusing than clear. "Any given Sunday," isn't just a cliche, it's a way of life in a league that shifts drastically through its 16 weeks.

While a number of teams made dramatic shifts both upward and downward after Week 3, one has retained the dubious honor of worst team in the NFL: the Seattle Seahawks.

Sure, the Seahawks managed their first win of the season on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, and there are teams in the league who have yet to win a game.

But the Seahawks have so many issues, have been so disappointing, and have such dim prospects moving forward that I've found no reason to move them out of the bottom spot.

Overall, the NFC West is a terrible division. The Seahawks gained no favor from me by defeating a Cardinals squad destined to disappoint, regardless of how many times Kevin Kolb-to-Larry Fitzgerald works.

In three games, the Seahawks have gained just 644 total yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is averaging only 5.4 yards per completion, has thrown two interceptions, and has been sacked for a total of 100 yards.

This isn't just Jackson's fault. It seems that everyone except for Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll knew that Jackson wasn't capable of being a consistent starter, and it's Carroll's stubbornness that has prevented Jackson's benching and Charlie Whitehurst's ascendancy.

The only saving grace for this team is that terrible NFC West; in any other division, they'd be hard pressed to get that single win.
