Nate Washington Fantasy: Is the Tennesee Titans Receiver Worth Picking Up?

Chris TrapassoSep 26, 2011

The Tennessee Titans (2-1) have been one of the more surprising teams this season, especially because of how they've been winning their games.

Chris Johnson has only 98 yards on the season and is averaging just 2.1 yards per rush.

They've been explosive through the air, as Matt Hasselbeck has thrown for 932 yards with five touchdowns.

Kenny Britt has been spectacular, emerging as a legitimate star in this league, but secondary option Nate Washington has really been the difference for Tennessee.

In their win against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Britt was taken off the field after what is thought to be a season-ending ligament tear in his knee.

Fantasy owners: It's time to jump on Washington.

Sure, he'll see more time against the opposing team's top cover man, but he's dangerous enough down the field to give him a chance.

Most importantly, Hasselbeck is looking Washington's way often. He actually has more targets (27) through three games than Britt (26) and can actually become more of a possession guy with Britt injured.

Washington has 21 receptions for 258 yards and a score in his team's first three games. Expect him to extend his current streak of three games with five or more receptions.

In a PPR league, Washington's a great No. 2 or No. 3 receiving option because he can catch a lot of passes and has that big-play potential every time he's on the field.

I think CJ2K will eventually break out, thus making the Titans very balanced offensively.

As soon as they can establish the run, Washington's stock will be sky-high, so now is the time to check the waiver wire for him.

He's worth an add.
