Dez Bryant Injury: Updates on Cowboys Star's Week 3 Status and Fantasy Value

Tim DanielsSep 26, 2011

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is questionable for the team's Week 3 Monday Night Football game against the Washington Redskins. With Miles Austin listed as out due to a hamstring problem, Bryant would be in line for a huge number of targets if he suits up.

Keep checking back to this page throughout the day for the latest information on the talented second-year receiver, who missed last week's game with a thigh injury.

CBS Sports has joined the Bryant will play bandwagon, tweeting that the wide receiver is expected to be in the lineup tonight. Nothing is official until the inactive list comes out an hour before the game, but everything is pointing in the right direction.

Play Bryant with confidence vs. the Redskins and cross your fingers that he can make it through the entire game. If he does, the fantasy numbers could put your team over the top.

The ESPN fantasy staff is predicting a big week for Bryant as Romo's main target in the passing game. It's hard to disagree, especially when you consider that he'll be matched up against DeAngelo Hall, who gets burned more than Charlie Sheen at a Comedy Central roast.

"

After sitting out Week 2, Bryant is needed more than ever, as the Cowboys lost Miles Austin for a few weeks. Expect him to get the ball thrown his way quite frequently, as there's quite a dropoff in talent on the depth chart after him.

"

They project 88 yards and a touchdown for the Oklahoma State product. If you took a chance and left him in your lineup and are just waiting for the final word, it looks like you made the right decision. At least for now.

Monday, Sept. 26 at 11:45 a.m. EDT

Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports that Bryant is expected to play tonight. After being a late scratch last week against the San Francisco 49ers because he couldn't loosen up his leg, treatment should allow him to get back in action tonight.

"

No need for that Monday, because the treatment sessions he underwent this week should allow him to participate vs. the Redskins.

It will be interesting to see if Bryant wears thigh pads vs. the Redskins. There is a thought that thigh pads, rarely used anymore, could have helped Bryant from getting hurt vs. the Jets in Week 1. The pads might have absorbed the blow.

"

Without Austin, the Cowboys desperately need Bryant in the lineup to give the also injured Tony Romo a big target in the passing game. It appears he will in fact play, now it's just a matter of how effective he can be while fighting through the lingering pain.
