Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice: Whom to Pick Up in Week 4

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballSep 25, 2011

Wondering which player you should target on your fantasy football league’s waiver wire in Week 4? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are our recommended fantasy football waiver wire picks for the week ahead.

Matt Hasselbeck (Tennessee Titans)

Hasselbeck had his second straight 300-yard game on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, as he went 27-of-36 for 311 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt went down with a severe knee injury in the game, but the fact Hasselbeck was still very productive without him indicates a promising near-future.

Another thing to like is that the Titans have two favorable matchups coming up against the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers prior to Tennessee’s Week 6 bye, and after that two more nice matchups against the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts in Week 7 and 8.

The Titans look likely to let the “Bald Bomber” air it out frequently, which makes him a must-add as a QB2 with upside across all formats.

Consider adding in: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team leagues

Daniel Thomas (Miami Dolphins)

Thomas followed up his impressive NFL debut in Week 2 (107 rushing yards) with another nice game in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns, as he had 122 total yards (95 rushing) and a receiving touchdown in the game. He seems to have usurped Reggie Bush as the Dolphins’ primary running back and, as long as he is productive, should continue to see all the work he can handle.

The Dolphins' Week 4 matchup against the San Diego Chargers is not particularly favorable, but coming out of Miami’s Week 5 bye, the vulnerable run defenses of the New York Jets, Denver Broncos and New York Giants will be on Thomas’ slate.

He should be owned in virtually all leagues by this point, but he is still available in 35 percent of fleaflicker leagues right now.

Consider adding in: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team leagues

Nate Washington (Tennessee Titans)

Washington had eight receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown against the Denver Broncos in Week 3 and now has 21 catches for 258 yards on the season. The fact the Titans lost their top wide receiver Britt to a knee injury on Sunday bodes well for his continued consistency with quarterback Matt Hasselbeck playing very well through the first three games this season.

We recommended adding Washington in this space last week, but he is still available in a lot of leagues (19 percent ownership in fleaflicker leagues), and the positive change in his circumstances after Britt’s injury makes him an even more appealing addition for fantasy owners in all formats.

Consider adding in: 10-team, 12-team and 14-team leagues, with slightly greater value in PPR leagues
