Michael Vick Injury: Post-Game Complaining About Refs Not a Smart Move

Ryan AlfieriJun 7, 2018

Michael Vick has made a lot of good decisions since he joined the Eagles. What he said during Sunday's press conference was not one of them.

From a physical standpoint, I understand where he is coming from. He took a lot of vicious hits yesterday. After taking hit after hit until your eventually have to leave the game after breaking a bone, feelings of frustration are a likely result.

What Michael needs to understand, is that he is held to a much higher standard than just about any other player in the NFL. If Tom Brady said that, no one would really care. Since Vick said it, he comes across as ungrateful that he still gets to play in this league.

For example, recall the "lubed up" comments Brady made two weeks ago. The public looked at it as a joke that he probably shouldn't have said, and left it at that. Can you imagine the backlash had Vick said those exact same words?

Vick has nothing to gain from what he said. As frustrated as he was, no matter how badly he wanted to share his pain with the rest of the world, nothing good can come from that.

If he has an issue with it, he should have just told his coaches and have them file a complaint with the league. That way, it would look like a coach sticking up for the safety of his player.

Vick is a tough guy; he has played through a lot of pain throughout his career. He bounced back from a nasty rib injury last season. These kinds of statements paints him in a different light that makes him look "soft," which was definitely not his intention.
