3 NFL Teams in Midst of Identity Crisis: Patriots, Colts and Eagles

If you’ve ever seen an NFL team in an identity crisis, then you would know it’s not a pretty sight.

An NFL identity crisis usually occurs when a team thinks it is either better than it is, have forgotten how good it is, or have lost a player or players that it desperately relies on.

Identity crisis is a real thing, and it’s time we start cracking down on this horrible problem.

If your team is on this list, please be aware.

Sometimes there is nothing you can do but let them ride it out, but in rare instances you can help them snap out of it.

I encourage you to write letters and call in to local radio stations, but most of all be supportive.

Here are three teams in the midst of an identity crisis:

New England Patriots

The Patriots seemed to forget that they were the New England Patriots when they went up to Buffalo and got upset by the Bills 34-31 on a last-minute field goal. Credit goes to the 3-0 Bills for proving to us that they can be a legitimate team, but there is no doubting that the Patriots were out of their element. Tom Brady threw four touchdowns, but he also threw four interceptions. New England has to remember who they are and bounce back.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts could win out the rest of the season for all I care, but the fact of the matter is that they are a shell of the team they once were without Peyton Manning. They’ve gone from being a perennial Super Bowl contender to a team that many are expecting to be among the worst in the league, all because they lost Manning. If this isn’t an identity crisis, than I don’t know what is.

Philadelphia Eagles

The “dream team” Eagles are 1-2, at the bottom of the NFC East and may be facing the prospect of losing Michael Vick, who broke his right hand in a loss to the Giants. Simply put, this looks nothing like the Eagles team we were expecting. Without Vick, the Eagles don’t have much of a shot at doing anything in a tough NFC. If he’s not healthy, the Eagles aren’t winning it’s that simple.
