Wes Welker: Even in Loss, Welker Proves He's Elite Receiver
The Patriots may have lost to the Bills in a disastrous loss, but Wes Welker proved once again that he is one of the best receivers in the NFL. 16 catches for 217 yards and two touchdowns prove once again that Welker is one of the best in the business.
Welker has redefined what it means to be a possession receiver. He's a matchup nightmare and even though teams know that he is going to get the ball, there is absolutely nothing defenses can do to account for him on every play.
Welker's sure hands and tremendous run after the catch ability allow him to produce incredible numbers. While clearly Tom Brady plays a huge role in Welker's success, it's impossible to take anything away from him.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
When people discuss who the best receivers in the league are, Welker usually gets overlooked. Welker doesn't have Andre Johnson's physicality, Larry Fitzgerald's height or DeSean Jackson's speed, but he is the best in the league at what the Patriots ask of him.
He wouldn't succeed in every scheme in the NFL, but you can't argue with his production. He comes to play every single Sunday and critics can't argue that defenses are overlooking him any longer.
There is no Randy Moss on the field to draw the defense away. The Patriots routinely have two tight ends on the field and Welker is always the biggest threat the Patriots put forth.
He's faster than people give him credit for and has mastered the art of turning seemingly small plays into huge gainers. He's a guy who can move the chains and break loose when he needs to.
Essentially, he's a Belichick guy and he's punished as a result. No matter what numbers he is able to acquire he is still underrated because of his unconventional style and the low profile he somehow maintains.
It's time to recognize Welker for the elite receiver he is. There is no better possession receiver in the league and Welker has everyone trying to find the "next Wes Welker". Unfortunately, Welker is one of a kind.
