Tim Tebow: Why Sunday's Loss Proves It's Time to Give Him a Shot

Tim Tebow fans have just two words they need to say at this point.

"Why not?"

Why not play Tebow right now? Are the Broncos that convinced that Kyle Orton is their QB of the future? Because that's the only reason I can think of to not give the golden boy his shot this season.

Orton was a pedestrian 24-for-39 today with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the 14-17 loss to the Titans. That's a 67.6 quarterback rating.

Spoiler alert for you non-statheads out there, that's bad.

And now Denver is 1-2 heading into matchups against the Packers and the Chargers. Basically, they're staring right down the barrel of a 1-4 start. What is it that drastic times call for again? Oh yeah, that's right, drastic measures.

There's no more drastic measure than starting the guy who is just one step away from being your third-string QB. But this team needs to do something.

The fans want Tebow, and you're not going to sell any seats starting Orton or Brady Quinn for a losing team. If you start Tebow, at least you'll have one thing that the Broncos are severely lacking: buzz.

What's the worst that can happen? They lose more games? I got news for Denver, you're already going to lose more games. At least this way you can appease your fans and give this guy a shot to see what he can do in his second year in the NFL.

Best case: Tebow wins some games for the Broncos and they realize that they actually have their starting QB. Worst case: They lose the games they were going to lose in the first place, Tebow plays like crap and the fans realize he's not their guy.

Okay, worst case is probably that the Broncos lose, but Tebow puts up enough numbers to make people think he's better than he really is. Still, if I were Denver, I'd take my chances.

Give the guy a shot. If the coaches are right, he'll fall on his face. But maybe, just maybe, he'll prove all the doubters wrong. And wouldn't that be great?
